Sorry, I could really care less about their religion or cult. Just like I could care less about Kirk Cameron's beliefs.

It doesn't raise or lower their values as humans to me, especially since besides odd behavior at times, they really haven't done anything bad. We just have a different opinion...no worries.

I read a ton about Scientology about 10-15 years ago. Honestly I think they are goofy shady and silly. Most of the really bad things I read then were heresy or were from angry ex-members and even most of the bad stuff is kind of uninteresting.

I think the Catholicism comparison is valid, if you are going to condemn members of one association for bad things it has done, then why not another?

Maybe not a valid comparison in modern day, but a very valid comparison to Christianity in general when historical context is applied.

Not in modern day no. However, (with Christianity) entire indigenous nations were forced to comply or (in some instances) be killed. In my humble opinion, Scientology just hasn't been both around long enough and become popular enough to mellow out.

This will be my last response on the subject as well (I apologize to the rest of the posters on here). Dare, I'm not saying that you are wrong about Scientology. I just didn't think Comeds was that far off in his comparison when put in historical context.
