How come?

I like Donovan, definitely top 5 among U.S. soccer players all-time and has been a big boon to the MLS. Plus, he has generally been pretty clutch in int'l play. The guy deserves some credit.

Maybe I've been watching the wrong international games featuring Donovan. At any rate, I'd like to see the States stick it to England (a certain Calgarian may have to be talked in from the ledge) :)

I don't think Mark Rypien would be too upset, he has a Super Bowl ring already. ;)

Soccer is a very underatted sport by many adults in America. It really is a great game if you take the time to watch it. I'll be watching the games any chance I get, and Will enjoy wasting a month of the hockey offseason

I remember playing soccer on a team as a kid. Was the best 10 year old goalie in our youth league, mostly because I didn't actively dodge the ball.

I also remember watching my younger sister in her 7 year old league. You could always tell where the ball was based on where the giant group of 20 girls were.

Ah, memories. Kinda wish I'd stuck with it. I was decent for my age- would never have made professional caliber, but I could have played for a high school and maybe been a college sub.

Oh well, let's go USA! Win or draw against England and you have a GREAT shot at making the elimination rounds!

If you can't use your hands, it's not a sport.

Can 2:30 saturday come fast enough?

This is a huge opportunity for USA football to show they are for real now.

yeah winner of that game will probably win the group... that carries a heck of a lot of bragging rights for the next 4 years.
(only to be overturned if the other team advances further as a lower seed)

Ok does anyone have an opinion on the new soccer ball they are using. It appears to dip and curve like a whiffle ball. One player called it a supermarket ball.
