Big key to this win was Flaherty's defense. He made to two nice back to back plays. Lester did a great job keeping the O's bats silent so those plays were big.

I feel at this point we can kinda generate our own closers.. we seem to have a propensity for that in recent years. I'd much rather more money go into the lineup and starters than for a closer, even though, as well all know, Johnson had his post-season issues.

Atleast we're getting to the postseason though. (or close enough where the last month isn't garbage-time)

No problem. Yeah Lester did well, just that one mistake and well Cruz made him pay big time. I was at work so I couldn't watch but hearing about a runner not tagging up upsets me. Again, it was the first game so things won't be smooth but that's just fundamental baseball. However... I've played and yes I have made boneheaded plays that should have been "natural."

So Is your closer situation fixed? Or is it still somewhat closer by committee?
