I can't believe I'm doing this, and I know it won't make Oregon fans feel any better, but this was my thinking as I was half-watching this game:

In the 2014 Championship game, I honestly wasn't worried because I didn't think Oregon's linemen could match up physically with Ohio State's. For the most part, I think I was correct in that assessment and the results of the game pretty much confirmed my thinking.

Last night, it appeared to me that Oregon was physical enough to match up with just about anyone and also that they had much better team speed than Auburn. For most of the game, they were the better team and I was surprised to wake up and see that Auburn had pulled off the comeback.

I was on the ESPN boards at the time LSU played Oregon, but it was hysterical how some Ducks fans claimed Oregon was the better team because of stats... they also melted when I used that same logic on them after their win against Stanford.

I think the Mario Cristobal era at Oregon is exactly what all of us on the Hoop needed

He's recruiting well enough to keep them competitive and give OD hopes of a Natty in the preseason but he's such a bad game manager they're going to take at least two funny losses a season
