Looks like sleeping on it hasn't cooled down Matt Sekeras:

Today's poll on Team 1040: What best explains Daniel Sedin's penalty in overtime last night?

a) Right call;
b) Honest mistake;
c) Referee settled a score

last night it was him, Kerry Fraser and idk who else saying that was a legit call

what is the ref closest to the play looking for anyways? this series has me confused ...

ie what was the ref looking at when (was it?) Desjardins put his hand on the puck in the crease as it was going over the goal line in game 3 ... he was right there ???

was he looking at Niemis tender loins on that play ???

If it's any consolation to Canucks' fans, I'm pretty sure all they did was improve their draft strength by losing in the 1st round. They'll now pick no later than 22nd but could very easily pick 21st and maybe even 20th (any higher seems pretty unlikely). I figured before this series started that the winner would go no further than the 2nd round. I still believe this to be the case but time will tell.

I know this goes against the grain of accepted truth in VAN, but close-up photo of Sedin hit shows it was clearly from behind. Good call.

Yeah, totally http://nbcprohockeytalk.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/sedin-hit.png?w=200&h=170&crop=1 … RT @DamoSpin Sedin hit shows it was clearly from behind. Good call.

You don't even have to look at the picture to realize he doesn't know what he's talking about. The call wasn't even hitting from behind. :L

rares posted the NHL rule for boarding last night and no where does it state that the hit has to be from behind - It basically is a check or shove that propels a defenseless player violently into the boards.

Was Wingels defenseless? He probably had a good idea that Sedin was there and you could argue had some time to prepare himself. Was he propelled violently into the boards? Probably a judgement call.

But again, it doesn't have to be a hit from behind.

Exactly! Otherwise it would be pointless to call it boarding when we already have a rule for hitting from behind.

Yeah, no call on that hit and didn't the Pens score shortly afterwards?

Yes they did. I don't think the Sedin hit should have been a penalty. It looked like a shoulder to shoulder hit. If the player Sedin hit hadn't been near the boards it would have been considered a great check. The ref BLEW IT.
