How about John Garrett? Dan Cloutier? Martin Brochu?

Will Canucks ownership clean house after this series?

Coach Vig is certainly gone, but I think Mike Gillis is safe (much to the chagrin of several callers to the post-game radio last night). The Canucks dare I say are starting to resemble the 2009 Calgary Flames. I know it's easier said than done, but Gillis has a big job ahead of him.

RE: Larry Robinson, from everything I've read, he has denied (multiple times when asked around the time he was hired by SJ) wanting to be a head coach again. Something about him wanting to take it easy and concentrate more on family (he has some in the SJ area but forgot who... daughter/grandkids, I think it was?) and Associate (not Assistant, out of respect? more money? no idea) position is what he agreed to.

Not sure whether he's changed his mind but there have been times this season when many of us fans wanted McLellan fired and for Robinson to take over (unrealistic, would never happen because Doug Wilson would never let McLellan go, period).

So is it official now that Corrado's first year of his ELC is now toast? I just really think that is bad asset management if indeed that is the case.

Hey now, burning a year on an ELC is patented by the Oilers - Canucks are going to owe them royalties for that move.

The Sabres blew a year of Grigorenko's ELC too. It's not the end of the world. If these guys live up to what their teams hope they can be they'll sign them to long term contracts anyway.

I think I'm going to respectfully disagree, the Hawks took advantage of guys on the last year of their ELC's to bring home a Stanley Cup to Chicago in 2010. It's a big plus if you can maximize having key contributors to your team on the cheap.

it isnt the end of the world because the canucks dont have any other guys in the midst of ELC's that are gonna cash in BIG, in the next couple years anyways :L

/having no players on your roster that you drafted between the years 2006 to 2010 will do that for you ... YAY CANUCKS! *foamfingerintheair*

I want to make one thing clear, I have no problem with an 18 year old playing in the NHL if he proves he's ready. However, if a GM has doubts about the player they shouldn't keep him with the team beyond what's allowed so that he doesn't lose a year of his ELC. It's poor asset management.

I do understand the idea of icing your best team and not wanting to send a message to the club that you're essentially giving up by pulling Corrado from the lineup, but is he really going to make that much of a difference over say Keith Ballard?

In the long run, it likely won't matter all that much, but it could prevent a move down the road because a team is too tight against the cap.

Nope, I agree with DaBolts, the Sabres blew it.

He only played 25 games out of 48 because he was sent back down. IMO, that was a huge step back considering the circumstances.

listening to the radio today they made a good point. It could very well be that gillis actually walks away from this without ownership having to make a move. Sounds like ownership wanted AV gone last year and he said no. he cant save him now
