True about the scheme b/c its looks like hasslett is going to get fired. I think Shanny stays.
I already said it. Jackson who will sign back cheap. Jenkins we drafted him for a reason. Tapp decent player. Most likely Jackson/Jenkins. You will get the same overall production for very cheap money.
Garbage time sacks don't mean anything to me. His best year was his rookie year with haynesworth and that was a 4-3 defense. If you are satisfied with Rak production this year you are crazy. Not worth the money. I can wait to see what he gets offered.
Is Jim Haslett Limiting Brian Orakpo and Redskins' Potential on Defense? | Bleacher Report
BR is normally garbage but look at the pass coverage stats for kerrigan and Rak . they cover more then double suggs does and only 8 3/4 olbs cover more
look at how much Suggs rushes the passer and how much kerrigan and rak do . 91 to 79 %
hasletts version of the 3/4 is hurting both players
Completely agree. Therefore - the logical conclusion is that Haslett is a lousy coach as I have been stating all season. Part of the solution is simple. At a minimum you tell Shanahan that he must fire at least Haslett & Burns. If he refuses then he has also has to go. This crap about protecting your friends has no business in the NFL. Then again it may be a moot pt if they continue to play Jags type football (in which case all of them would/should be gone).
If Haslett stays and we continue to run this style of defense and utilize our OLBs this way, there is no reason to resign Rak. If we are not going to use him to his strength most of the time, why keep him? We need to find an OLB that is more suited for this scheme.
Of course what I would really like to see is we change the scheme, resign Rak and set him and kerrigan loose on the QB more times than not.
This ^^^^....something needs to change. I am not ready to give up on a first rounder just yet (unless he wants ridiculous money). Rak has not been lights out, but to just let him walk away?? He has too much talent and potential for that.
Well we can't give him a huge payday and then not use him to his strength, either.
Just a little football question. How do you NEVER put your OLBs in coverage? No coach in the country is going to rush 5 and cover with 7 all the time.
