well never is outlandish but pulling a non factor jenkins or golston and inserting some coverage people would be a way

considering the cap & injury situation that is kind of an unrealistic expectation. Have to play the cards you're dealt.

Rak is dropping into coverage 2 out of 10 plays ... i do not think that is an unreasonable amount. He just needs to make the most of the 8 out of 10 plays he does rush the passer.

So he averages 8.9 mil a year for the next 5 years. That is insane. Of course Rak is going to sign that deal.

I didn't see that but that is still 7 to 8 mil guaranteed a year for the first 3 years. Then jumps to 10 to 11 mil in years 4 and 5. Of course he signs this deal. Do I have this right?

He is worth 7-8m. Try and replace him for less. Who you gonna get? If he isn't worth it after year 3, you let him go. This would be a good deal for us. Not so sure I agree that Rak will think this is a good deal.

yes the deal is front loaded , and if Rak starts to slide in the final years he can be let go with little cap ramifications

i cant see how you get a guy with equal ability for less

I cant see any other team in the league guaranteeing Rak 7-8 mil a season for 3 seasons. We would be bidding against ourselves. He said he wants to stay here maybe he takes a discount. I think 6 mil a year is very fair for him not 8.

Guaranteeing him 8 mil a season for three years means that he is a top 5 player at his position. Do we agree? He is not a top 5 player at his position. Even 6 mil a year is generous. Plus he is not even top 10 in sacks this year.

the franchise tag for an OLB is 10 mil . that is the top 5 salaried guys . 8 mil a season is 2 mil less then a TOP 5 guy

Ok. Is he a top 10 player at his position? No.

He's close if not in it. This proposal doesn't pay him as an elite, but as a very good.

Rak has one sacks less then JJ watt the reigning DPOY who is currently 9th in sacks and he is 1.5 sacks away from jumping to 7th

is he a top 10 OLB ? i would say yes he is he is a 2x pro bowler and an alternate in another in 5 years and is pushing one this season

maybe 9-14 range. But is he that much better than Kerrigan? I look at them and think they are the same player. Im anxious to see what he gets offered from another team. I believe we would be bidding against ourselves.

Unquestionably better: Robert Mathis, Justin Houston, Aldon Smith (unless he gets suspended for a year), Von Miller (unless he gets suspended for a year), Clay Matthews (when healthy and that's barely) and Tamba Hali

On par: Elvis Dumervil, Terrell Suggs, Ahmad Brooks

You can't count OLBs in a 4-3 because it's a totally different position. No matter how you count it...RAK is top ten.
