The six NFL teams most likely to decline in 2018

Barnwell: Expect these six NFL teams to win fewer games in 2018

On Monday, we used underlying metrics from 2017 to project which teams are most likely to improve upon last season's record. Today, we look in the opposite direction to try to identify the teams that have the best chance of declining in 2018. The numbers mentioned below have exhibited some ability to project future performance in past years. You can read more about those metrics here.

The Steelers division is crap and so is the AFC in general. They should linger near the top for another year before cliffing.

Minnesota saved themselves by getting Kirk Cousins. They can actually pass with all the other top teams now.

Barnwell seems to be in the 'NFC North and AFC South are bloodbaths' camp.

The Steelers in the regression category is the big hot take here.

I think Buffalo is an easy one. Last years record was a mirage.....you just don't have both offense and defense ranked in the mid/low 20's and have a winning/playoff record....unless it was pure bull.

LOL @ Pitt being on the list.
They won a shit ton of 1 score games. It's a pretty good take, actually. Issue is there's no hard landing for them with the AFC being what it is. Even the Jags are just as likely to be at home during January than in the playoffs.

A bit ironic this is coming from a Raider fan.

I'd got to ask why Tenn and Min are on the list for? If Tenn can't get their shit together now, man I don't know when they're going to show up.

Minny I am just confused by. How are they worse? Plateau'd maybe? I don't see worse outside of QB depth, lol.

I see his point that the Vikings are unlikely to go 5-1 in the division again, but they look damn good on paper to me.

Sorta agree, I do like the Steelers as a decline team, but unless the Browns match their talent, unlikely with the worst HC in the history of the NFL, I dont see how far they could fall off

I get 5-1 being hard in the NFCN, so what if they go 4-2 or even 3-3 though?

That roster is plenty good enough to deal with the division and 1st place teams.

His reasoning on Pittsburgh is actually pretty persuasive.

They play in the AFC North.
