Game Thread: Opening Night

It was funny. I as listening to a talk show out here and they were talking about where the Clippers might have a parade if they win the title.

One of them said...Seattle.

This was on the station that broadcasts the Clippers games. lol

In all seriousness, the Clippers are part of their own problem at this point. They must have the worst PR department in all of sports.

As I said, that was the Clippers flagship station and they are always complaining that they can't get interviews with anyone from the Clippers organization.

Yeah, it's pretty bizarre.

But, I take comfort in the fact that we have a roster full of guys that have zero fucks to give and a couple of them actually relish the role of villain.

George comes off as slightly soft with the game on the line.

But, Lou and Kawhi are Teflon.

They are gonna need that swagger if they face the Lakers in the playoffs because it will feel like 7 road games.

Well, 6.

I don't see you winning more than 2 as currently constructed.

Both teams will be different (and better) by playoff time, as long as there aren't any major injuries. Should be a war all season...

Yeah, that same station had the same issues with them under Sterling. I'd have thought they'd have gotten that part right first.

They certainly seem to have embraced the "nobody loves us" role.

On that same show, they did have a pretty interesting idea. They said that when the Clips move to Inglewood, they should do a complete re-branding. Change the name, the colors, all of it.

Of course, one of them suggested the LA Vagabonds. lol

I don't know how much it would help, but I don't think it would hurt.

I think a series between the Lakers and Clips goes 7 if both are at full strength. I would probably go with the Clips winning at this point though. They are the deeper team.

It'll be interesting to see where things are around Christmas though. The Lakers have a lot of new faces. But everyone should be on the same page by then.

But, what happens to LeBron's legacy if the Clippers win a chip on his watch. But, the Lakers don't?

I'm not talking historically, per se.

I mean in the eyes of Angelinos?

I honestly think it would be crippling...... IN LOS ANGELES.

He will never escape Kobe's shadow....EVER.

But, I think it would be devastating if Kawhi wins because I honestly believe he would have been a Laker had LeBron not been on your roster.

He wants to be better than LeBron, not caddy him to more chips.

It'll have virtually zero effect on the Lakers in Los Angeles.

But on Lebron...yeah, it'll have a big effect.

Assuming no title....I think most Lakers fans will, at the least, appreciate what he tried to do and that he made them relevant again. After the past 6 years, it's nice to go into a season with a real shot at having at least a deep playoff run.

But he will never be mentioned in that group of guys like Magic, Kareem, Kobe, Shaq, etc.
