Rollins is officially out, though there isn't any word yet on what he will do moving forward. Also, it looks like Mac has made the team, which pretty much kills Marreros chances. No word on Ramirez/Gearin...
Williamson hasn't played in a major league spring training game since March 15th. I haven't heard anything about him getting in games at the minor league complex either. Seems like he makes the team's disabled list.

Per Pavs:

Blach makes opening day roster. Cain is the 5th starter, Blach out of the Pen.

Presumably at Osich's expense. Still nothing on Ramirez, but I expect the Giants will stay course and keep Gearrin.

apologies if posted.... from the mercury news last after friday's game...

Manager Bruce Bochy announced after the game that pitchers Josh Osich and Albert Suarez as well as infielder Kelby Tomlinson had been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento and that non-roster outfielder Chris Marrero had made the club. He will platoon with Jarrett Parker in left field and also play some first base on occasion.

I've been trying to figure out the Suarez one because I'm 99% positive he doesn't have options.

So what will the final tweeks be to the rosters?

I see it as Gonnor, Hernandez, Ramirez and Gearin are competing for 2 spots. Seeing as Hernandez is the only one who can play CF, I think Gonnor is a casualty, with Hill becoming the 3B backup.

Gearin has looked good the last few days, and he does have squatters rights, so I guess he wins that job.

But that still means the Giants need to trim one more 40-spot. Gardeck? Black? Crick? I think Crick showed enough signs this spring to keep his job. Black has a hell of an arm, but he is too injury prone and too wild. Gardeck is injury prone, and probably has the lowest ceiling.

My guess is that the Giants move on from Black.

Unless Suarez was not optioned, and has instead already cleared waivers, and he has been assigned to AAA. Then no additional cut would be needed.

jmo.. but i think boch will carry an extra pitcher early given the opening against the nl west and the position players are 'fresh'. he's got an unproven bully rotation and he'll lean towards maximum flexibility... especially until the cain situation is resolved....

again.. just a paying fan, no insight whatsoever

as an aside... watched the game today (havent seen many of the spring training broadcasts) and really liked Ruggiano sweet swing. i've been pining for a rh power hitter for att for ages, any chance he's got a chance?

Seeing Marrero and Hill have already been announced for the club, I don't see Ruggiano having a chance. I also don't see the team going with 13 pitchers. That would mean both Gonner AND Hernandez are cut, and that would really hurt the defensive rotations.

Marty just mentioned that Okert was optioned??

Holy shit!

Ramirez and Gearin both make the club. And Blach is the only lefty in the pen!?!

Wowoweeewow, Okert optioned for Ramirez. The FO's infatuation for Gearrin knows no bounds

So that means we still have an announcement coming on Gonnor v Hernandez. Could they view Parker as the prime CF backup, and cut Gorkys?

And there will still need to be 2 more 40-man cuts AFTER Gonnor/Gorkys...

Both guys are safely on the team...

Posey/Hundley
Belt
Panik/Hill
Crawford
Nunez/Gonnor
Parker/Marrero
Span/Hernandez
Pence

Bum/Cueto/Moore/Shark/Cain

Melancon/Law/Strick/Blach/Kontos/Gearrin/Ramirez

That's 25.

edit: Your current roster post has an extra count on the 25 and 40 man roster. It's supposed to be at 25 and 42.

So now not only is Blach the only lefty in the Pen, but Blach is the only guy who can be stretched out. That's a lot more to ask of Cain than I would have liked.

Can't say I like these late decisions, but...

i'm not excited... in every game i attended last year (20+) the giants were the oldest and the slowest. i don't see the '17 roster improving on this.
