Went to the game tonight. What a special night for OV.

I think the weirdest thing was two kids who stood when the Devils scored even though they were wearing a Preds jersey and a Jets jersey. Kids today!

The arena has new screens and looked really nice. Fun night! Great Xmas present from my brother.

Sounds like a great night to be there.

I heard the new screens are 720p, I've got to get there to set that!

They're actually 635p, which is really hard to find.

Also, one of the tOvechkin hat trick hats thrown ended up in the bench and then on Braden Holtby courtesy of John Carlson...

Fuck me who’s Boston trading for now

Backes fell off a cliff.

Dougie Hamilton has a broken fibula. Man, he was having a great year.

It was so hard to watch, even at game speed I knew something was way wrong. Seeing him look up at the ref and say "I just broke it" was tough.

Something had to give there, legs aren't supposed to bend that way.

They will probably pick up Karlsson and Hertl for a bag of magic beans.

Does dumping Backes into the AHL take him off the Salary cap? Not a 2 way deal, so it stands to reason they would have to count against the cap.

Even if they can dump Backes completely that and Rask on IR almost covers Karlsson's cap hit.

Primer: Understanding one-way, two-way NHL contracts, more

The NHL minimum salary is $650,000 in 2018-19. For one-way players who are paid $1.025 million or less (the NHL minimum salary plus $375,000), they can be re-assigned to the AHL and have none of their salary count towards the cap. Anything over $1.025 million would count towards the cap -- if a player on a one-way deal with a cap hit of $2.025 million gets reassigned to the AHL, $1 million would still count towards the salary cap.

If this still holds this year (since this is from '18-'19) in Backes case a little under 5 million would count against the cap.

i think his contract is very similar to loui erikssons and the cap savings for the canucks to send loui to the minors is about 1 million a year

Looks to be that way.

So, quick look the Bruins have 2.4 ish in space with this move.

After the season, they only have to sign:
Nordstrom
DeBrusk
Bjork
Lindholm
Chara
Krug
Gryzleck (or however you spell it)
and
Halak

That's a shame
