Always funny how that works out... and maddening.

I think it makes sense in a way though. When there aren't any expectations, nobody is gripping the stick too hard and probably just enjoying the game more at times. Sometimes leads to better results.

While it doesn't mean that it still can't be true one problem with this theory is that the Flames 3 game win streak has come against teams that were similarly already eliminated and so theoretically not "gripping the stick" either. Their May record is 0-2 vs teams that were "still playing for something" and 3-0 vs eliminated teams.

So I guess Anaheim & SJ are keeping everybody in management and coaching on board then? Ducks in particular have gotten progressively worse for 5 straight seasons and were on pace for 62 pts over 82 games.
