Interesting, going to be interesting to see the final Las Vegas roster.
This might go very good or blow up in their faces (apropos considering it is the Hurricanes):
Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with goaltender Scott Darling on a four-year contract through the 2020-21 season. The deal will pay Darling a total of $16.6 million and carries an average annual value of $4.15 million per season.
"Obviously Scott could have waited until July 1, to see what other options he might have as an unrestricted free agent," said Francis. "But he believes in what we are trying to do here and we are thrilled that he is committing to the Hurricanes and to Raleigh."
Carolina might have a top 5 defence in the next couple years. If their forwards start doing a better job of keeping the puck in the offensive zone he'll have no reason to not succeed.Yeah, there's pretty much no halfway there.
The money is good for a goalie with his mechanics and potential. Now he just needs to show he can play that way behind that D.

I cant recall who it was this week in the cesspool who said it, but the "general consensus" amongst nhl gms is that darling doesnt have good technique ... mind you tim thomas wasnt a technical goalie
Doug MacLean?
Hes hasnt been allowed in the cesspool for 3 or 4 years now (which one could say is telling lol)
It was Lebrun or bobmac
I can't imagine that a lot of GMs think he's that terrible technically when MAF and Quick are still in the league.
I have no clue how either one of those guys makes half the saves they do.
Is it that whole athleticism thing again?
Is this the Islanders offering him a contract or the Mets? Pretty indistinguishable between the two right now if you ask me.Will that be enough to keep him out of Toronto?

Doubt Toronto has much interest regardless. Things have changed since they chased Stamkos last summer. Will that be enough to keep him out of Toronto?

Kovalchuk-Matthews-Nylander would be more intriguingCall me crazy, but a top line of Gaudreau - Monahan - Kovalchuk could be intriguing.
