A little sloppy by both sides, but I'll take scoreless after one period.

/Would be nice to cash in on this PP early in period 2.

Caps all over the Canes, who look like they're just happy to finish their work shift and get back home.

Go Flames!!

Caps win 5-0 for the second game in a row. Tenth shutout of the season for the league's best defense. For the record, that is 10 more shutouts than Marc Andre Fleury has this season.

Nice comeback win by the Sabres over the Sharks last night. Possibly the most insane thing about that is that Buffalo is now 17-1-1 all time against San Jose at home.

I'm just glad the Caps are hitting the "steamroll" the NHL for three months thing.

I eagerly await the "crash and burn in the second round" thing.

I want to know all is well in the world.

I think it's great that the Red Wings are going out of their way to let every opposing team enjoy their last visit to the Joe.

The Canadiens continue to implode. Losing to Colorado is never good especially if you're a division leader.

You know what's better than having two mediocre goalies? How about three?

I just don't get it. No way on Earth Vegas takes whichever goalie they don't offload to Pittsburgh (assuming they do) so you're immediately in a position where you have to either protect Fleury and you're potentially looking at having even more cap tied up in net if they move Niemi instead of Lehtonen, which is more likely given Pittsburgh's cap situation.

Seems like a waste this year, no? Like TB, what was clicking for the Stars last year just isn't this year. Their defence isn't very good (losing two top-4 guys last summer hasn't been kind to them) and they're in the league basement in attempts against. They're in that class of teams where a lost season wouldn't be cataclysmic and may actually benefit them in the long run (they can move Sharp, Eaves and Oduya for picks) and can figure out their goaltending once and for all before the drafts (and buyout Niemi for a manageable $1.5 mil hit for two years).

Whether Nill and his owner see things in a similar fashion, we'll see. But another week of this and I'd start looking to sell.
