I believe it was a dash post lol

Him too.

one thing thats been mentioned regarding "casinos will buy blocks of tickets to give out as comps" ... do casinos really want potential gambling revenue sources NOT IN THEIR CASINOS FOR ALMOST 3 HOURS ???

that goes for the folks at the Spearmint Rhino too ... they want guys falling asleep with ladies dancing on their laps ... not watching the boring trap

They comp other shows. Friend of mine saw Penn and Teller AND Celine Dion on a trip once.

Clears the head and gives you a chance to get drunk before coming back.

Go fuck yourself, Randy.

Positive. In the sense that it's over, amirite?

Leafs fans need to forgive and forget - Of course, where Randy is concerned, they will likely never forgive themselves for forgetting to stay mad at him.

MGM perhaps since they're part owners of the arena and may get a cut of the concessions revenues.

Was about to say pretty much the same thing. Also - the arena is on the strip & a short walk from most of the big casinos. It is not like it is across town & would take hours to get back to the gambling action.

I also see replies from several saying that they will go to some games (& I am assuming that they are not all from Vegas). I see this happening a lot especially in the first several years. Heck - folks might plan Vegas trips around games for their favorite team

I would view this like the fans of baseball & even hockey teams in Florida. There will be crowds as much if not more for the visitors from other cities until at least the time where the Vegas team becomes a force & develops their own group of diehard fans.

Most vegas shows are an hour, no?

Celines 90 mins but she is a different target market

Almost 3 hours away from a casino not only gives u time to sober up but also time to evaluate what youre doing with your cash lol

Im not up on consolidation in the industry (ie who owns multiple casinos) but if youre a casino and you have your own produced shows within your walls... U want the revenue source going to a different entertainment venue?

Correct. Not in Vegas currently, but visit 5-6 times a year. And I agree. For Toronto fans, the cost of the flight and hotel will be cheaper than buying scalped tickets In Toronto.

Really? I thought you were supposed to.

No wonder I'm in debt.

You should always split aces and eights, but when you have 20, the dealer obviously needs 21 (or blackjack) to beat you.

/Of course, if you're running great and up a bunch and the end of the shoe is near, I suppose you could split 10s to try to double your money.

Which reminds me:

F_ck MGM. They are going to start charging for parking at their Vegas casinos. The d_cks.

LOL - I wish. For lots of folks it will just provide more motivation to get back to the casino. Again - a lot of the casinos are just across the street so it will only take minutes to get back there. BTW - you are making a pretty big assumption that fans at NHL games won't be drinking.

I could give another scenario involving a blackjack tournament, but if I do, y'all will think I am a degenerate gambler

And another big assumption that there wont be gambling inside the arena. If you want to call slot machines "gambling".

*Looks at his shoes*

Which side is the end? Do I put my cards inside the shoe?

I may miss a few, but I think MGM owns Bellagio, Aria (part owners I think), Luxor, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, New York New York, and MGM Grand (obviously), so they own half the strip anyhow, and would be essentially funneling them off to a facility that they're 50/50 owners of already.

And I wouldn't be shocked if league rules force AEG to sell their stake in the new arena as a conflict of interest with Staples Center and the Kings.

Lots of questionable assumptions in this thread. Sure - there are some folks that park themselves at a table 24x7 & don't do much else. However - there are lots of folks in Vegas that spend lots of time elsewhere & some that don't even gamble. There are a lot of other things to do in that city. They spend time eating, watching shows, visiting attractions, going on excursions, etc - that is part of the appeal.

As mentioned above - there will also be forms of gambling in the arena & lots of drinking. I don't quite buy some of the negatives being presented in this thread.
