To answer BGDAVE's question above:

In a preseason game on September 21, 1969, Maki and Boston Bruins defenceman "Terrible" Ted Green engaged in a violent stick-swinging fight. Broadcasting legend Dan Kelly described the incident as “one of the most horrifying, most violent exchanges I’ve ever seen in hockey.”

After narrowly avoiding an angry strike by Green, Maki retaliated with his own stick and hit Green in the head. Green suffered a fractured skull and a brain injury.

“I could see right away that Green was badly hurt,” Kelly told Brian McFarlane. “When he tried to get up, his face was contorted and his legs began to buckle under him. It was dreadful. I almost became physically ill watching him struggle because I knew this was very, very serious. I remember it like it happened yesterday.”

Assault charges were laid against Green and Maki. The NHL suspended and fined both players. Maki was suspended for 30 days and Green for 13 games “if and when he returns to hockey." Green missed the entire 1969-70 season, but did return to action and played for nearly another decade.

Thanks for digging that up. An old memory but that is the kind of $hit I worry about creeping back in the game if the league doesn't take a strong stand

Keith's punishment should be getting doused in gasoline and being lit on fire.

For everyone's enjoyment. His family would probably even chuckle.

Just what every father hopes his son grows up to face one day - felony revenge pron charges. At least the charges were dropped.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...ross-revenge-****-cleared-20160329-story.html

Edit: You will need to cut and paste the link in your browser as the SportsHoopla filter has kicked in. Just replace the stars with p o r n.

Edit 2: I suppose I could have tinyurl'ed it, but too lazy (lol).

Guesssssss whose suspension was lifffffftedddd? Because the "case resolved"! Dear Blackhawks, HE WAS LET OFF THE HOOK BECAUSE IT TOOK PLACE IN ANOTHER STATE...THATS IT. Sheesh. Literally them saying "eh, we only cared if this became a big PR mess." Also kinda amazing that it's a felony in Illinois and nothing in Michigan.

Who will get the longer suspension, Duncan Keith or Jake Virtanen?

The little weasel scores and then Higgy ties it up with a shortie.

If I'm handing them out, Keith...but who knows. That Virtanen one is no Bueno and the exact kind the league has tried to eliminate, but I've seen some ignored of late. I think he gets two maybe. Keith better be 5+

Actually, Tony was right, the weasel did some damage, but the buck toothed beaver was the leader tonight.

1 game for each stitch Coyle received. Nothing less is acceptable.
