Long term? No.

Would he be alright as a 2-3 year option for $4-5 mil/yr? I think you could do worse than him.

Playing behind that defence should help him, too - has any goalie in the NHL faced as many shots per start over the past 4 years than him?

Just messing with nhl.com, but Craig Anderson has. And Ryan Miller, Mike Smith, and Varlamov.

Stats page is much improved, can do a lot more with it.

Friend of mine mentioned last week, in nearly 20 years in charge of teams Brian Burke has had 1 goalie of note the entire time, and he wasn't even the guy responsible for his acquisition (Giguere).

I don't believe that Burke is making personnel decisions in Calgary.

Is that per game or per 60 minutes? Remember Reimer was a "backup" for much of that time, and backups tend to play more partial games.

No, but he's still "in charge", per se.

But if you agree that he's not making personnel decisions and goalies are most certainly personnel, why would you hold him responsible in the same way you do for the years he was a GM?

Okay, then he's just in charge of the guy who's in charge of the personnel who have been awful.

Like Richard Peddie.

I copied the stats from NHL.com and did some quick Excel work to get it per 60 (among goalies with 100 GP since 2012-13).

As suspected, it isn't even close.

Just to follow up on these guys individually... I've got Reimer facing 33.5 shots per 60 minutes. Anderson I've got at 32.5, Miller at 31.3, Smith at 31.3 and Varlamov at 32.3

I went with Games Played, and included 2011-12 (because I cant count to 4). So I defer to both of your superior math and Excel skills.

The GP versus GS does make a huge difference.

Re: Calgary; They do need an upgrade in net. Got to think if not for goaltending they'd be closer to or in a playoff spot by now.

I think they call it First Overall Day, celebrated the first overall Tuesday of April. The night before the kids put cookies and scotch out for Commissioner Gary.
Of course, all that scotch always mysteriously winds up two hours down the road inside the president's office in Calgary...

I'm gonna need some of that scotch if the Oilers win another draft lottery...
