Apparently no hearing for him...but hasn't he had a handful of questionable hits in the past week or so? I don't think that hit last night was horrible, but he caught a guy in the head who was already engaged with another player, you'd think it'd warrant a call at least. And if it really is one of many in the recent weeks, you *have* to do something, even if in a vacuum maybe you don't suspend a guy.

First offense, no penalty and no suspension.

Second offense, penalty

Third offense, 3 games.

Not all of these are suspendable things, by the book or anything, but geez, reign it in.

Devils are in a weird spot. If they manage to make the playoffs they probably don't have much of a chance. Schneider could steal a series but he can't steal four, I guess it would be good experience for the younger guys. At the same time they're not really bad enough to be a lottery team.

I'm assuming they'll stand pat but given the choice I'd rather they be sellers. Stempniak and Cammi (assuming he ever gets back in the lineup) would be solid pickups for a team looking to make a deep run.

Problem for the Leafs is there aren't really any playoff teams who need a goalie. Can't see much of a market developing for him.

By the way, why wasn't Hertl assessed a match penalty for his temper tantrum and attempted kick at TJ Brodie last night? Here's the text straight from the NHL rulebook:

Match Penalty - A match penalty shall be imposed on any player who kicks or attempts to kick another player.
Whether or not an injury occurs, the Referee will impose a five (5) minute time penalty under this rule.
Fines and Suspensions - There are no specified fines or suspensions for kicking and opponent, however, supplementary discipline can be applied by the Commissioner at his discretion.

If deemed appropriate, supplementary discipline can be applied by the Commissioner at his discretion.

Doesn't surprise me that he is now apart of that philth in a Philthadelphia now. Flyers gonna fly. You almost expect asshole moves like these from these scumbags.
