Matthews, like McJesus should have done, needs to pull a Lindros when EDM wins the lottery this year.

Can you imagine the boatload of players/picks/prospects the Oilers would receive if they won the lottery and decided to move the pick? However, since it is the Oil, they'll keep the pick and remain on the rebuild treadmill.

Devils troll Isles fan during game versus Senators (lol)

haha, my youngest brother got trolled like that at a Blues-Red Wings game too, but even better.

A few years back, I bought tickets to a Blues-Wings game in St. Louis and got an extra one for him as a birthday gift. They were doing celebrity/fan look-alikes on the jumbotron during a break and they showed my brother in his Wings jersey - paired with Ellen DeGeneres.

Hearing that Kadri is being fined 5 grand for the throat slash gesture, no suspension. I'm okay with that, Gio nailed him with a couple of beauty hits, at times it's best to let the players take care of things.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Ehrhoff (LAK) clears waivers.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie

My guess is some teams will investigate trading for Ehrhoff now and sending a contract back LA's way.

How...how did Ehrhoff clear? You're telling me that Columbus didn't think him useful? Or freaking Edmonton?

I'm thinking Columbus and Edmonton are thinking Auston Matthews is much more useful than Ehrhoff, pix.

What's crazy is that someone will trade for him, guaranteed. Of course I guess the thought then is to shed a contract. But we're talking about the Kings. Can't dump some inflated contract on them.

Even that's weird to me - What does the guy have left on a $1.5 mil contract? $500k? I know teams are tight against the cap but there are only 3 or 4 teams that are that tight against the cap.

I do agree with dash in that Columbus or Edmonton adding to their squads right now would be counter-productive to their current season goals but there are 10-15 bubble teams that couldn't use him? Weird.

It's like we're not privvy to some information...I mean, this was universally something fans were hoping their team would make a move on. I just know that Jimmy R will make some stupid move for a shitty defenseman in a week and I'll be thinking about Ehrhoff.

I think what Bobby Mac tweeted earlier today makes a lot of sense, a team would rather trade for Ehrhoff and keep the roster flexibility that picking up Ehrhoff on waivers and getting one contract closer to the 50 maximum contract number. Also, it's very possible that Ehrhoff is just not that attractive anymore.

on Ehrhoff, teams maybe dont want to take on new salary before the deadline without a reciprocal salary going out :noidea:

I suppose contract count would make sense.

But shit, I'm still wondering why LA is waiving him at all lol.

I guess I get it, but like in the Pens instance, they have the cap space, and the simple solution is waiving David freaking Warsofsky (although he may still be on IR for concussion?).
