How do retained salary transactions work within the cap? Are you charged the original cap hit or just the amount you are paying the player?

If FLA retained half I would welcome Bob home as long as he only counted 5m against our cap.

You sure? That magic sure ran out once they got past a Leafs team that can never score in the playoffs and a Carolina team missing their best goal scorers.

Yeah, I would. He can't carry the load as a starter but I think he and Elvis could be a solid tandem 1a/1b. And he's just so damn likable. He is still capable of catching lightning in a bottle, even if admittedly the bottle with which to contain the lightning is much smaller than it used to be.
