Best of luck to Trotz and happy retirement to David Poile. The transition of power in Nashville are the two most important off-ice men in Capitals' history. Before Poile took the GM job, the Caps were 163-375-102 through 8 seasons with no playoff appearances through 1982. Poile brought in Rod Langway and Craig Laughlin in his first two weeks on the job - one would be the face of the franchise through the 80s and the other the voice of the franchise's broadcasts for nearly half a century. Poile rattled off 14 straight playoff appearances and built a winning record. The Capitals possibly aren't still in DC without his influence. And obviously Trotz finally got the franchise through to a Cup victory after many years of shoulda and coulda. I hope Mr. Poile enjoys his retirement and wish Mr. Trotz success in his new gig. Cheers!
