A player who sucks bad enough that his team is willing to waive him WHEN HE'S THE CAPTAIN, who has a no trade clause wrapped up in his wife's career where he forced his way into this team specifically because of it and she has a year left, and who can't go two weeks without being in the news for trying to maim an opponent and locals are excited because taking him might mean a first rounder, which will probably wind up in the 25-32 range.

This just feels like Jeff Carter 2.0. I don't care the asset return, not fucking worth the drama. Unless Panarin comes back in the deal at 25% retained, please just walk away Donnie.

Didn’t the Rangers just do this with Barclay Goodrow? Either threatened to waive him (or did) if he didn’t accept a trade to the Sharks?

Goodrow was not happy about it.

If you are a player looking to sign with NYR you should def consider that their trade protection isn’t worth the paper it’s written on

The irony is Chris Drury as a player when he was traded from Colorado to Calgary sulked the whole time he was with the Flames, played terrible hockey and got his wish with a trade out of town. Now that he's in the GM chair, he's continuing the tradition of treating players terribly lol.

Come on now! How can no team not want the Mark Messier leadership award winning on their team.

Isn’t that what people say about Vegas? Hasn’t TB been doing this? Is that affecting their ability to sign and keep players at all or are they all still consistently contending?

NYR’s been doing this for decades. People still want to play for them. I don’t think most players care much about this stuff so long as they get paid and they have a shot at winning in a city they want to be in.

New York will always be a highly sought after destination. That won’t change. I was more thinking on the micro scale than the macro

If I’m a player, NMC has value and may be worth offsetting salary considerations. A NTC may not hold the value

Or if I didn’t accept decide to sign there, fully understanding that this situation is a definite possibility

What does Anaheim think they're doing?

I mean Trouba is only 30 so maybe a change of scene revives his career; there is no way he should have declined this much. But man it's not like they're close to contending.

Put me in the camp that thinks Trouba is one of the most overrated players in the league. Sure, he can deliver big hits (most of them dirty), but he's a terrible defender and in my opinion a horrible teammate. Rangers win this trade just by the sheer fact of getting rid of Trouba.

That's a pretty good deal for the New York Rangers if they're going to be on Wheel of Fortune later, they won't have to buy a vowel
