@wilwhite

I had a problem this week. Because I paid attention to your team. I knew you would win by 8. But if i added players. You would have seen that. And added players too. And you had a player easier to replace than I did.

That is so lame people aren’t setting lineups.

If it is on the person’s roster I think they should get credit for having the player in.

Too many people checked out and the league falls apart if all these 0 lineups happen.

And also if the good teams like Molsan don’t take losses when they are supposed to.

That affects playoff seeding and outcome of the league.

I can see on the Lineup Changes tab that you and SteelersPride set players for week one. I don’t necessarily think SteelersPride deserves a zero this week.

Also wondering if setting a lineup for the next matchup before the current one is over has or may potentially trip someone up.

I 100% knew I had no path to beat you this week but I did set a line up. Not sure why @wilwhite didn't see him in the FLEX spot.

I only started thinking about this a couple days ago in looking at the lay of the land: My thoughts are here it is much harder to empathize with what another manager might find desirable in a trade compared to typical leagues. You would have to do some tedious work poring over the upcoming schedules of others just to avoid ideas likely to be non-starters for anyone paying attention (noting some in this league optimized what they were trying to do as far as roster construction goes in looking ahead during the draft). One of the easiest ways to get something off the ground would be if someone took the initiative of saying, "I need help in this specific area, I could stand to bolster this position(s) for week(s) such and such." If one does that publicly, it might tip off future opponents into planning ahead to counter if they can so maybe there is a disincentive going on. And hashing trades out privately is of course verboten.

My personal plans were to avoid considering trades, barring the unexpected, until right before the latest possible date. Based on how this has gone, I am less likely to be interested now than I was at the conclusion of the draft. I guess there is still part of me that would not like to see the baby thrown out with the bathwater, not on behalf of myself, on behalf of the idea of there being a window in which trades could be made before a deadline, late in the season when there is less of a future schedule to look at. On the other hand, I also thought from the beginning that a late deadline deal going down might lead to a possibility of a 3rd party feeling screwed over from its effects.
I think trading will become more clear in the last few weeks, but could also get a little chippy, especially because trades haven’t been happening so far.

I don’t really have a problem crediting your lineup because it won’t affect who won your matchup, you had the guy, and you weren’t losing on purpose.

The main reason to give a zero is to force people to either drop a player to keep an active lineup or take the tiebreaker hit. You had the guy, so I’ll give you the points barring any objections.

Yes - I saw the exact same thing. Something similar happened with me and Tlance, where he made a move, I countered it, and then he dropped the guy he added and moved on. Once somebody else picked Tlance's player up I knew I was okay and could drop the guy I added and move on, too.

So what is the fix?

Honestly this isn’t even worth finishing if half the league isn’t trying.

I love the concept. But everyone has to be trying to compete for it to work.

It sure seems simpler to make it all best ball and if someone desires a sub-optimal lineup they can be entitled to message wil to request a specific lineup.

In the interest of keeping this first season useful I'd like to go ahead and use best ball unless an owner tells me otherwise.

@obxyankeefan and @molsaniceman, you two are the recipients of wins from missed lineups this week. Would you object to using best ball this past week?

If we didn’t decide that if anyone wants 20 points from their TE to guarantee a win. I can give them that.

None for this week - and see post 98.

I'd like to see trades; more than that I want this first version of the league to be successful and fun.

the problem is u have to wait till line up period ends to get a player for the next week unless u have someone u dont need anymore If u noticed when u drop and add someone it goes on week 1 line up and all past line ups
this is why we need a longer WW period than the 2 hours we had
As for trades cant we just do them during the WW period?

It made sense to me that trades would happen after waivers, because what you want to do in a trade probably depends on what you accomplished via waivers. But people are clearly planning ahead, so maybe it's fine.

Oof. I messed up with the TE thing. Hell, it was the reason I drafted Kmet.

Apologies, I'll pay more attention.
