This is a blackeye for CFB and the playoff selection process. This nonsense where ND can sidestep an ACCCG kept them from being filtered out by the Taters earlier. They had no business being there, this system needs to account for such a scenario in the future.

I don't think the real issue is whether ND deserved to be in the playoffs. The issue is that Alabama & Clemson are so much better than everyone else in college football year in and year out, that it almost doesn' matter who else gets in.

Sometimes Georgia or Ohio State rise to that level for a season-- and that's pretty much it in all of college football.

Want more competitive playoffs? Figure out ways to encourage and even incentivise more parity across conferences in terms of dollars, schedules, recruiting, etc.

And if we don't want to do this? Just watch the games for whatever entertainment they may provide, while knowing that Alabama will play (and likely beat) Clemson in the CG most years, with occasional interruptions from Ohio State and Georgia. Just chill in other words.
