definitely a bit strange for this to be a kickoff game, it will be a sellout because it's in Houston, so it will attract both Oklahoma and Houston fans

Houston should have a very experienced team then too

but this game will only be interesting if Houston can hang in there and threaten for an upset, or do what BYU did against Oklahoma in the first Cowboys kickoff game

Seems like a bit of a trap game for Oklahoma. They should most likely win, but games aren't played on paper.

indeed sir, the BYU game a few years ago was an example of that, similar neutral site game against a good mid-major team that everyone though Oklahoma would roll over.

we'll see what happens this time

This just makes no sense to me at all.
Why play this game down in Houston when you could schedule a similar team in Norman and have a home game for the fans.

I get what you're saying but OU has proven thru the years they'll play anyone anywhere under Stoops. I'm not surprised at all their doing this.

One word: Recruiting. OU has moved more nationally in recent years, but like Gundy recently said "we consider Texas in-state recruiting". Houston has a lot of talent. OU goes to Dallas once a year and a game in Houston would be nice. They can invite 10-20 recruits. There is a reason that Texas seems to get a ton of neutral site games.

Yeah, I know, it's all about recruiting blah blah blah, but I don't think it will do much good for recruiting if we go down and lose the game.
Just sayin

that is true, but it is highly unlikely. One reason I would rather play a top rated school in a game like that. Even if you lose it can be a positive.

what does Gundy have to do with OU?

There are a lot of OU grads/fans in Houston, so it's not a big surprise OU would play down there.

He coaches at a school in Oklahoma and was stressing the importance of Texas as a recruiting ground. It applies to both schools. I didnt think it was that controversial of a statement.

1 Neutral Site game per year is enough.
Why not get off of this 6 home games a year business model and do some more for the people of Norman.

Texas has 6 home games this year also. OU and Texas have years where they only get 4 home games in Conference. One reason I would not mind seeing the RRS go to a home, home, and neutral format.

IF he had, he wouldn't say he wants a home and home.

have you ever been to an OU v Texas at the Cotton Bowl?
-
3 times. Missed last year. Its a great game, but I think a night game at DKR vs OU would be an unbelievable atmosphere. RRS is about as good as you can get for a day game, but for some reason night games seem to have a little more to them. Dohesnt have to be 1-1-1, appy with neutral, home, neutral, home. I would just love to see OU in DKR once. I think it would be amazing.
