Got rid of a huge chuck of that contract early, so they arent held hostage by the contract if things dont work out. Now offering him that contract is another issue. But front loading it when you had tons of cap space is smart. (not kicking the can down the road) They can cut him as early as next year if they want without hurting the team. of course I will laugh my ass off if it comes to that.
