This was a mediocre team we beat tonight. They have two playmakers and it took two and a half quarters to decide to shut them both down. The turnovers and stupid penalties almost beat us tonight. We have got to be so much more disciplined.

Other than that, we over came a lot of adversity tonight but we have at least three tougher games than this left on the schedule.

Yes, Wisconsin is currently a mediocre team. At best. I agree that the only team that was beating us tonight was ourselves. With the possible exceptions of Minnesota and Iowa, every other team we will face will make us pay dearly for our carelessness. I'm not so sure we can overcome our carelessness against Minnesota and Iowa if they play above themselves. There is still so many more obstacles to overcome. I still like our chances to win the conference. Even if we have to outscore everyone to do it.

Meh, I think NU made some huge strides tonight. Maybe enough to carry them on to the next level. Last season they folded when faced with the same issues they suffered from tonight.
Wisconsin is not the same team they were last year, that is a given. But they are far ahead of anyone else NU has faced, save for UCLA. Nebraska owned them once they figured out what was going on. The offensive line blew HUGE holes through the defense as the game progressed. They have not been known to do that much lately. Big improvement.
Holding the badgers to 56 yards rushing, on 38 attempts is HUGE. So they aren't the same team that pounded NU last season. NU has struggled stopping ANYONE on the ground. So we can call that an upgrade. There was pressure up the middle and off the edge. The same maligned defensive line that had been shredded at UCLA was in the zone for much of the 2nd half.

6 fumbles is terrible, but it's not gonna happen every game. NO INT'S! Again, huge. Natty? No. But a pretty good team none the less.
Taylor is light years ahead of where he was last season.
NU will be just fine and dandy. tOSU will be tough. But they can be beaten by the team I saw in the second half tonight. Whether they show up next week is another story.

I guess my point is that this is STILL(after 4 years) an undisciplined team. Last season we did have a very similar game to this (OSU). I would like to say this team is making strides. But I've been trying to say that for 4 years now. Tonight showed me that we could overcome adversity, that is all. We did that last season for one game. I would like them to skip the adversity, that would show me so much more.

Look at penalties. They have improved there. They have improved defensively. Fumbles, tho kinda rough today, have improved. The offense has improved in all aspects.

They have a long way to go, but they have come a long way as well.

The fumbles yesterday are not indicative of how Nebraska plays and I would like to say the penalties also.

There has been great strides in both areas and I hope that yesterday was just big game jitters.

We have made great strides with our receivers, we are exponentially better at quarterback and our offensive line is much better, not there but much better.

We are a much better team then last year and if our defensive line can play like the 2nd half of that game the rest the year we are going to be light years ahead of where we were.

Now I don't think we will beat tOSU and Northwestern looks very good but we definitely have a shot at the B1G. Northwestern may be our biggest threat.

Those mistakes really surprised me, but I honestly suspected that the Husker players wouldn't be that focused out of the gates. Nobody was saying much to the Badgers about the revenge factor, but I gather that Rex had to answer a lot of those questions. He tried to downplay it because in his words, you can't use it to motivate you through a whole game.

I wouldn't expect to ever see that guy make a mistake like that again. I think it was just a rare occasion when he had some shit rattling around in his head. He's a solid player. The monkey is off their backs, and now they can just be aggressive.

Actually Nebraska entered yesterday 2nd to last in the nation in 'Fumbles Lost', so it was indicative..

They are now tied w/ Navy for the worst at 9 lost each.

So you are saying it is common for Burkhead to fumble? I don't see that at all. Forkem is dead on. He didn't have the patience that is so characteristic of him.

He pushed into his blocker and the blocker accidentally bumped it out. Not characteristic of him at all.

When Martinez dropped the ball on the first play it was clearly jitters also.

I am not going to make more of those two plays then they are. One was jitters and one was a fluke.

The vast majority of fumbles are unlikely chance of occurrence. What makes those any different?

Thru 5 games NU has lost more fumbles than every other FBS team. Up from being 2nd from the bottom last week. I hope that's a fluke that stops this week and never returns.

I am going the other direction and say this team still had a badger on it's back from last year and some nerves early. Wisconsin does have a solid front 7 on defense and I haven't seen as many pancakes since my last IHOP visit. I saw many positives like the continued great play of Jason "Anchor" Ankrah and Andy "Janimal" Janovich. The Husker offense skill players make the Huskers a dangerous team. Pass rush and defense was the only question mark, but they pulled it together. Most prognosticators see us losing to Ohio State and Michigan State so the Huskers will go into those game with as underdogs. I remember the Holy Crap moment back when the Nebraska B1G schedule was announced. I like the Huskers chances. As for next week, Miller is a one man show and a special one at that - so the defense has a huge challenge ahead.

You stole my analysis bro!!!

Seriously, I think you're right. If you're pissed off about a previous game you either have to embrace it or stop thinking about it. I don't think some of those guys were still stuck somewhere in between, unsure how to handle it. No big deal, since they pulled out the victory. Good luck to you Huskers on the rest of the season. I'm disappointed, but you can't win them all, especially on the road at stadiums which sell out for 50 years straight.

Yeah, I can see that being a key in such a disastrous start to the game for us. This game had a lot of feel to me going into it like getting "revenge" on Texas when they came to Lincoln with a down team and beat us. It looked early like that for sure.

When Wisconsin gets healthy, builds some depth on their lines again, and their freshman qb plays a full season they will be tough, and don't forget that if we get to the CCG, Wisconsin could very likely be on the other sideline.....

Forkem, what was that last Wisconsin play supposed to be a hand off or bootleg? It didn't look like Ball was expecting a handoff, what a horrible time for a miss-communication. I think Wisky will finish strong this season and be in Indy.

We won't find out Saturday either.

There won't be any revenge factor jitters, monkeys off backs, or anything else that will be used as a distraction excuse. Playing at The Shoe will provide plenty of that.

I don't think the atmosphere will effect us much. The key, yes stating the fucking obvious, is going to be how well we do or don't defend Braxton Miller......

I think it was supposed to be a handoff. I'm not a lip reader, but from what I gathered when the cameras were on O'Brien and Ball after the play, Montee seemed to think that O'Brien should have known to tuck the ball in and roll out due to a busted play. O'Brien seemed to be explaining that he thought Montee had a better chance to get something if he tried to bounce outside away from whichever Husker that was who shot through.

As they were walking out on the field, I'm pretty sure Montee said something like, "Just stay away from me, that's bullshit."

Honestly, if that's the case, I'm not really happy with either of them. Ball is right, O'Brien should have seen the busted play and tried to get something, but Ball is supposed to be a team leader and he let his anger get the best of him. In his defense, he's been through quite a bit in a couple months.
