I think in the long run it'd be better for him to get another year down.

It's Edmonton they'll rush him into the lineup. Who else do they have as a #1 center?

Even though he might be good enough to make the team, I think they'd be smart to send him down and put a bit more of a gap between when Hall and Eberle become RFA's and eventually UFA's and when he does. Unless the Oilers are thinking they can go somewhere this year and that he can help get them there, I'd rather have him at 26 or 27 than at 18.

Of course we don't know what the new CBA will look like after this season but for now I think you have to use the current one as a general guideline for how you plan long-term.
