NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Redskins have begun receiving calls from teams interested in trading up for the No. 2 overall pick.
Perhaps Monday's smoke screen that the Giants were interested in Oregon QB Justin Herbert lit a fire under the rest of the league. Washington reportedly isn't intent on moving out of the pick, likely being content with selecting Ohio State DE Chase Young, but anything is possible for the right offer. General managers have just over 48 hours to persuade the organization otherwise.

If the NYG's move down, followed by the Lions, I'm all for moving to the 3rd spot for an extra pick. We still get Young and that bonus pick. I'm not interested in moving to the place where Young is not in play.

The people who want Simmons want to trade down. If the Rg3 trade is offered and you are guaranteed Simmons do you do it? I say no b/c I want Young but its something to think about.

An anonymous NFL executive in personnel told the Athletic's Bob McGinn that Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons is "the most overrated player in the draft."
NFL coaches and general managers prefer certitude, and that's nearly impossible to come by as it pertains to Simmons' role. In a poll of 16 executives asking what they thought his best position would be in the NFL, 10 replied weak-side linebacker, three said nickel linebacker, one said outside linebacker and two said safety. “If you put this guy at sam linebacker only, he’s going to struggle,” said an AFC executive. “If you put him at free safety only, he’s going to struggle. You’ve got to be creative." A two-year starting hybrid specialist who earned the 2019 Dick Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker, Simmons played snaps at linebacker, safety, and nickel corner in college, allowing merely 5.6 yards per target given his elite sideline-to-sideline coverage skills. It would be wise for front offices to avoid pigeonholing him into any type of role, instead allowing him to roam free and naturally create plays at the next level.

Not even something to think about.

i knew this would happen . look you have to get young because i doubt you get the Utopian kings ransom

i cant see the lions moving up for anyone but young , same with the giants so if you drop lower then you lose young

Question for the gang - if Young is as good as everyone says (and I'm NOT saying he's not), why would you assume we won't get terrific offers for him?

He's not a QB. What happens in this case... any team wanting that 2nd spot will do so because they want a QB in that spot. I think that you wanted to say that instead of "offers for him."

If some team wants to gut their draft to move up to take a qb, I dont see how the skins dont do that.
Especially if they are gutting several drafts of high picks.

That’s the kind of short sighted thinking that stupid teams - like the redskins - have done for years.

Hell, I would trade with Detroit if they agree not to take Young or retrace the pick and all I would ask for is a fourth rounder, and I would accept a fifth.

Ok, then most are saying having a pass-rushing DE isn't all that important.

Whatever you think it is.

The Dolphins would have to do the swap plus #18, 2nd rounder and a 2021 first rounder. I don't think they would do it.

Good call, but I don't trust Detroit's motivation. Now if they are honest brokers, then I'd take that deal .

The problem is exactly as you've outlined it. Our team is usually the one getting screwed even when it appears to be the right thing to do.

As an organization and fanbase we can't name a game changing player drafted by this team other than S. Taylor in the Snyder era. They simply don't come to us very often and when they do, we cannot pass them up.

I know that you want to trade down but let me ask you this... in any NFL draft how many total players drafted end up being significant contributors to their NFL teams?
