Offseason upgrade options on defense

So let me ask, if you were doing a project. And you could get one tool for $20 that would cover most of what you needed to take care of, or 4 tools for $10 but would take you twice as long and increase the odds you actually fuck up the project once or twice before you are done. And you would also likely have to replace 2 of those four tools when you were done in any case.... Which is actually the better deal??

The answer is obvious but your analogy sucks. RAK was with us for six years and missed more than 1.5 years of those games. He had chronic issues with his pecs and time will tell if the issues continue.

We didn't take four more roster spots to replace him. Murphy was here no matter what. Preston Smith would have been here. The only player we brought here to replace his actual roster spot was Galette.

You still have to have a backup for RAK. We replaced RAK with Galette is what we did. Everybody knows Galette was not available prior to the release of RAK but players were available. Murphy started last season anyways. Hayward was brought in as a STs guy and as an ILB. He is way too small for OLB.

Who was the realistic replacement for Moss?

I have no idea what your hard on for RAK is. We're we better off this year without him? Yes. Will be better off long term without him? Yes.

Rak was one example. I suspect you will blow a fucking gasket if Kirk gets any where NEAR a market value deal and would rather they franchise tag him at this point which is a no win situation for the team in any case.

By the way, Raks Cap number was $4.75 million. SO I would say he more than lived up to that number with 7 sacks, 50 plus tackles, six of those for Loss and five passes defensed.

Now will he live up to his $8 million cap number this season?? WHo knows. But as I said two years ago, we were Dumb as fuck to franchise him instead of signing him long term. The franchise tag is a lose/lose proposition.

If the player out performs the tag, you cant afford to keep him. And if he doesnt perform to the tag, you wasted twice as much as he was worth on a one year rental.

We know they won't cut him this offseason but do you project those numbers to go up or down next season. So let's say he plays next season and equals what he did this season and miraculously doesn't get hurt. That would be two years at almost 13 million in cap space plus if they cut him after that, another four million in dead space.

I was actually for the signing of Kerrigan. He is a better all around football player than RAK and is generally healthier.

I wouldn't blow a gasket if KC got 20 mil per season. I think he will actually fall into this value on his performance.

I think our defense would have been better EARLY in the season, and might have actually stayed decent later in the season with Rak as a starter from day one instead of the old, well I hope Murphy and Smith can get it done, but atleast we saved a little coin.

You are right about the 3.75 mil...I am still right about him playing this season for 8 million.
