The Sox can still hit 40 wins and lose another 4 games - no problem for the best team in baseball. The Division is going to come down to the Sox or the Twins - and we have the Twins in for the home cardboard cutouts.

One of those famous intangibles - is that some teams learn to win and others learn to lose - and the Sox have crossed over into the learned to win category. The Tigers are certainly better than the Sox were last season, but they don't have that cohesion it takes to be consistent winners.

Once we're finished with the Tigers series, this is when the shit really hits the fan. 11 out of our final 14 games are against teams with winning records, each of whom is all but guaranteed to be in the postseason. 8 games are against our division rivals, the Twins and Indians. The only team with a losing record, the Reds have underachieved per preseason expectations, but are by no means a pushover of any sorts. Oh, and to make matters even sweeter, there are no more days off until the playoffs commence.

So gents, in essence and for all intents and purposes, our playoffs begin as of Monday. Welcome to Fast Times at White Sox High.

Gonna be a fun finish forsure but not quite on par with the playoffs beginning. It's more good expereince.

All 3 of our teams in the central are making the playoffs. Its all about seeding and right now who knows what seed is best. As of now the Twins are the 4 and Toronto the 5......thats way better than the Sox having to face the Indians or Yanks as a WC.

That said, I fully expect New York to work their way to the 5 seed so...

Good news on the Bummer front - big addition if the Sox can re add Bummer to the bullpen.

The playoff format sucks. If the Sox win the #1 seed in the AL - they will have to face the 8 seed in a 3 game series. If that playoffs began yesterday - that would mean the Sox would have to face Cleveland in a 3 game series - against some very stout pitching. This season could go down in flames that way.

I'm wondering if destiny is playing a role in your fears. Because if the season ended today, the Sox would be the #2 seed and have to face the #7 seed.......who are at the moment the Indians. :gaah:

Looks like the Reds are going with openers today. They're trotting out Mike Lorenzen, a reliever who's only made one start this season. On the Sox side, Cease needs to show he can pitch past the 5th inning.
