Hoping the, “Pete Carroll wants the Bears’ job!” is just a one way desire.

I don’t see it as a good match.
Pete Carroll would be a great hire. I don’t think the bears will get him though.

Someone somewhere compared it to the John Fox hire. A guy who was once good that is well past his prime. I personally don’t see that one going well. (That isn’t to say it wouldn’t be an improvement over the current situation, just not a very inspiring hire.)

Fox was never even half as good of a coach as Pete Carroll is/was.

I gotta say, Ben Johnson saying he "won't chase" head coaching interviews is wild. It actually bugs me a little bit. Like goddamn dude, are you overly cocky or stupid? Dude hasn't really done shit yet? No? I don't know why, but that shit rubs a bit??
The more I learn about this guy, the more he screams "Josh McDaniels to me". It doesn't have to be McDaniels. Just insert in the name of any massively egotistical "know it all" OC who came in with the wrong attitude to his first job, thought he was god's gift to football, and it turned into a shit show. Players hated him, etc.

I have a bad feeling about him. Just a gut thing. He's clearly a smart guy, but I don't know...

True. That being said, I stand by John Fox's job in Carolina being a really solid one. That was a piss poor, afterthought of a new franchise. No QB, not much talent... Fox turned that whole thing around with a no named QB (Delhomme) and he did it quick. They stayed competitive for a while, too.

I just think that by the time he got to us that the game had passed him by. I also think he inherited the biggest mess of a roster and cap situation that I've ever seen. Courtesy of the Emery/Trestman disaster from hell. Anyone who thinks we've seen worse than 2014 recently is suffering from recency bias.

Please list the things you know about Ben Johnson that point to him being a bad guy that will piss off players and ruin the locker room.

Besides just making it up.

I work with a 30-something named Ben Johnson. I told him he should look into having an unlisted address if the Bears hire the coach with the same name.

Perhaps McDaniels' apple didnt fall off the arrogant Belichick tree?

I like Dan Campbell. If Johnson's apple is anything like Campbell, at least we wont get "word salad" at press conferences.

I've watched a couple of his press conferences. I mean, pretty much anyone on the planet can outdo whatever the f*ck Eberflus was doing in press conferences...but he was fine. Winning is all that matters though. Just find a winner please for the love of God. We have sucked for far too long.

The issue as to whether Poles gets the ax aside, here's an ESPN article talking about four definite coaching vacancies, which includes the Bears. Guess they're figuring as just about all of us are that Brown is a for-sure goner:

For those who don't want to read the entire article, here's the nutshell pros/cons for any new Bears hire:
Pros - Should draw the interest of any offense oriented coach to take over the reins; can mold the offense to his liking
Cons - Getting hired in the NFL's toughest division; the OL needs revamping

Okay, so brought up the name before and now he’s available… IF we hire a defensive head coach… Doug Pederson as OC?

I’d much prefer an offensive HC (not “offensive” in the way our last few HCs have been.), mind you. Just throwing this out there.

If we hire Mike McCarthy, I don’t even care anymore. So, whatever

Personally baffled that Kliff Kingsbury is not on that list…

Who on that list wants to be a coordinator again in 3 years? That’s the guy.

Bottom line is what side of the ball is easier to maintain continuity if a guy leaves. I think Glenn or Flores would be excellent, but it is more critical that we have continuity on offense and it is harder to maintain that continuity if a guy leaves after 2-3 years, I’d imagine.

I’m thinking a Mike McDaniel type coach would work if we could grab a good DC..

I honestly don’t have a problem with this. Obviously others here do.

Not my first choice, but come on! We could do WAY worse.
