Broncos sign NT Ahtyba Rubin

Crick is eligible to return later in the year.. As the NFL now allows for two players to return off IR once placed on IR after cutdown day. We know Shane Ray will be one. Crick could be 2 depending on how things go. He is having back surgery so good chance his season is over. Could be a bad thing for his career going forward also.

Jarrett stays on the roster for now. My guess is with Rubin just getting here Jarrett will be active this week, then placed back on the PS next week. 3 NT's is quite a few. We also have an injured Peko on the PS giving us 4 NT's on the roster. (Just my best guess that Jarrett goes back to PS next week with healthier bodies and Rubin a week along)

@Dr Cyanide 28 Feels kinda dirty having a Cyclone on the team. It has been a very long time, but it will have to do. ;)

I know that in sandwiches Rubin's are pretty good.

[You think it is easy going for a laugh?]

I wouldn't mind bringing some depth to the D-Line on the active roster this week. The Cowboys' O-Line is for real and if our D-Line gets worn down by the end of the game the Broncos aren't going to win. Is there some fat we can trim to get more D-Line depth on the active roster this week? Here's the inactive list from last week:

DE Jared Crick: No surprise here, Crick has been battling injuries and was never projected to play against the Chargers.

DE Zach Kerr: Another expected inactive. Losing both Kerr and Crick to injuries will really test the depth of the Broncos’ defensive line, more specifically their ability to stop the run.

RB Devontae Booker: The second-year player out of Utah is still fighting his wrist injury, and should be back in the lineup without too much delay.

QB Paxton Lynch: Paxton won’t be ready to play for a few weeks even if Vance Joseph does come calling for a backup quarterback. Expect to see Lynch’s name on this list for the next few weeks.

CB Lorenzo Doss: Doss started training camp off strongly, but at times was unable to translate it to the games. In my opinion he is the most talented non-injured inactive in the NFL.

G Billy Turner: Turner impressed in camp, and it appears as though Coach Joseph is quite fond of him. He simply isn’t ready to contribute in the NFL yet, hence his status as inactive.

WR Jordan Taylor: There was talk as early as this morning whether Taylor would see meaningful reps in the slot-receiver position tonight. Taylor is talented, but Mike McCoy must not have seen a place for him in this week’s game plan. I would not be surprised to see him activated in the coming weeks, as he has show promise in regular season NFL games.

So, our only inactive O-Lineman was Billy Turner?

Well Broncos have made 3 moves to help the DL this week. Zach Kerr is expected to be active for this game so big time help with a big body to help against that OL. Kyle Peko has been added to the DL rotation as well after he was cut because of injury but is back. And of course signing Rubin to help out who was a starter for the Seahawks the last couple of years should be some help with depth.

STARTERS: Bolles/Barbre/Paradis/Leary/Watson

BACK UPS: OT Stephenson, OG Turner, C/G McGovern

PRACTICE SQUAD: OT Wilkinson, C Day

Going off of my "what if we cut Garcia?" depth chart we could carry these guys who are bolded on the active roster against the Cowboys. If a LT/RT goes down we put in Stephenson. If a C/G goes down we put in McGovern. If 3/5 of the line goes down in the same game we're fucked anyway so it doesn't matter.

I have no idea why the author would think that Joseph would be looking towards and injured QB rather than our #2QB. Maybe he didn't know what else to write?

I don't understand cutting Garcia right now... Yes, he hasn't been great, but why go from starter to cutting him? Right now he is splitting time as a starter who else are we going to get that is better then him with experience? Unless we acquire an OL it doesn't make sense to cut him right now.

On the roster right now we have three guys who are better at playing Guard than Max Garcia. Leary, Barbre, and McGovern. Leary is obviously better but we are using him at RG. Barbre is consistently better and should have won the starting LG job a while ago. McGovern has looked better in limited action and does a good job at Center. I think it's more important to have a starter and a back up at each D-Line spot to try to keep them fresh than it is to keep our 4th best Guard active on game day.

Inactive vs cut are different though... Just saying... Hard to cut him and go down to three OG's or sign someone that will be any better then him.

I have no problem with him being active but understand your opinion.... Right now he is sharing time. Barbre will probably get FT duties here soon. Last week Crick and Kerr were inactive due, we had to bring someone off the PS just to have enough active DL... This week Peko or Rubin will probably be inactive depending on if Rubin is up to speed to be active or not... I think we are fine for amount of DL we have active when healthy. Last week we just had way too many injuries along the DL due to PS injuries.

I'm at the point of being ready to move on from him. If you look at who we have as O-Line on the roster there isn't a place for Garcia unless he's effective when called upon. And he hasn't been. I don't see him as a substantial upgrade from Turner (who would become 4th OG) even. It's not just a matter of game day roster (although I feel like he's pointlessly clogging that up) or active roster (where I think he's stealing someone else's spot) but whether or not he actually brings NFL quality value to the team.

I haven't really seen Turner enough. He failed in Miami big time. He has looked ok to me in PS. Was inactive most of the time when we brought him up last year. He added depth at G and T which is nice... I don't mind Garcia as a backup.. If he continues to struggle this year id look at OG depth in the draft or FA, but right now I'd keep him on the 53 man roster.

If Turner can match Garcia's play at OG and also provide OT depth...he's more valuable than Garcia on game day.

Every time I look at our roster Garcia sticks out like a sore thumb.
