It may be the facial hair that pulls him off balance and allows rushers to blow through him like explosive diarrhea through a single sheet of toilet paper.
Last week we had Turner as inactive and Garcia as active. Imagine if (not a sure bet but if) Turner can give us the same level of play at OG that Garcia brings. Even if the coaches want to keep things as they are as far as what positions they want to roll with on game day this is what we end up with:
STARTERS: Bolles/Barbre/Paradis/Leary/Watson
BACK UPS: LT/RT Stephenson, OT/OG Turner, C/G McGovern
Same number of O-Line on game day (8) but more flexibility in Offensive formations and better depth in case of injury. We're at the point where we are screwed if we have to rely heavily on O-Line depth. McGovern is good but Stephenson/Turner are (probably) more like Dollar Store band aids. However if I gotta use Dollar Store band aids I'd rather buy the ones that can cover multiple owies, and throwing four OT's out there on short yardage run plays could get interesting.
How about a Jumbo package of Stephenson/Bolles/Barbre/Paradis/Leary/Watson/Turner with Siemian, Anderson, and Janovich in the backfield? Go ahead and pick an 11th guy based on exactly what you want to do with the play. Remember how badly the Raiders fucked us last year with extra O-Linemen?
I just don't think that Garcia is any better and Turner offers more versatility. It's like if I had to pick between two shitty used cars I'd pick the one that I can get more use out of. I see Garcia as a back up because of his poor play. If he played at starting NFL OG level then I wouldn't even think about it. Turner would be an afterthought.
...also I'm frustrated with the coaches for rotating Barbre/Garcia at LG. It reminds me of the Siemian -or- Lynch crap on the Depth chart. I think when one guy is playing better you name him the starter and let the team form so they can move forward and get better along the way. That's not so much Garcia's/Lynch's fault. I blame the coaches for not making a decision and sticking with it.
