I think this means the End of Melo in NY. No way he goes back to NY with that team if they make this trade. This help Mavs with Melo but can they still offer Melo with the adding contracts of Chandler and Felton. Looks like it might be the Bulls or Houston now.

Unless Knicks think they can land Melo and LBJ.

I can't see Melo going to the Mavs with an old team like that with a banged up Chandler(he already had to deal with him) and Dirk who is on the decline. I really think its between Houston and Bulls now with Melo. Outside chance with NY if they can land LBJ with Melo.

So that leaves the Mavs with Ellis and Wright under contract. And now Chandler and Felton.

The Mavs got some serious cap space going on, especially if Dirk is gonna give a hometown discount.
I wonder if they want to amnesty Felton?

If they had kept Larkin or their picks this would have been a possibility

Quite possibly the dumbest trade I've ever seen in the NBA.
All I see is Larkin and Ellington for Chandler. The rest is a pile of 'who cares?'

Probably a win win for what both teams want to do

They gave up 4 players, and two draft picks for a center that had the mobility of a lamp post last season. A PG that's pure garbage and if eligible will get amnestied.......for two very good young prospects.

HORRIBLE trade. I see no upside here for Dallas.

Essentially Dallas made a horrible deal on the off chance they can recruit Lebron or Carmelo???
Why would Lebron go to Dallas and play with that group???

The current Dallas roster is less attractive than Miami and will pay less money.
Unless Lebron is drunk, he would never leave Miami for this Dallas roster and less money.

This seems like one of the more embarrassing deals in Mavs history....unless they land some miracle homerun free agency signing that I cannot foresee.

I agree. Aging Chandler and Dirk. Why would Melo or LBJ go their plus play in the West. Now if this team was in the East maybe but no way neither player goes their now.

Hearing a rumor of Houston Trading Harden to NY for Melo and then signing LBJ and then trading Asik and Lin. That would just suck for the NBA. Melo, LBJ and Howard. Scary.

I think you're underrating Chandler slightly.

JR Smith regressing from 6th man of the year to one of the worst players you can imagine had more to do with the Knicks falling off. Amare being bad also really sealed the deal in New York. I think Chandler has at least 3-4 years of basketball left in him where he is a guy that matters in the playoffs. Thats probably larger than Dirk's window of 1-3 years imo.

When Dirk goes, Dallas is going to have to rebuild. Hard.

It is one thing for a guy like Lebron (who has already made a fortune) to take a paycut.
Even a guy like Bosh has had several years of max money.

But, Miami seems a bit delusional that guys like Lowry and Ariza are going to put aside a big payday.

They haven't made the really big money yet. I don't see them taking massive paycuts now when they finally have a chance to get big paydays.

Usually paycut guys are older veterans who already made their money.

Yeah, that Dallas/NY deal is pretty bad for Dallas. It's even worse if Tyson Chandler continues to be the unmotivated and sometimes injured player he was this past season. After bungling the coaching situation, Phil Jackson comes back with a robbery of a trade.

I've often wondered why the Mavs never seem to be able to land top FA's. I guess moves like this provide a pretty good explanation.

Now that I said that, they'll probably land Lebron and/or 'Melo.
