Cleveland cleared room to give LeBron a max contract today. They sent guys to Boston and Brooklyn and gave the Celtics a future first round pick. The Celtics gave back a second rounder.

Ken Berger confirms the Cavs are sending Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev to the Brooklyn Nets; and a first-round pick and Tyler Zeller to the Boston Celtics. The Nets will send Marcus Thornton to the Celtics to complete the deal as the Cavs clear roughly $9.5 million off the books. ESPN's Marc Stein was the first to report the deal.

That was happening regardless of them getting James it was reported.

Wade had their hands tied. He could've opted in to 2 years and $40 mill. The only way he opts out is with a blood vow that the Heat will pay him (at least) > $40 mill over the next 4 years. So you can assume that such a promise was made.

Wade opted out of $40 million over two years. Wade has won 3 championships for Miami and played in two other finals in his 11 year career with Miami. Because of him, Shaq and Lebron and Bosh came to Miami. The Heat owe him at least 50M over 4 years.....
