Woj says he doesn't think Lebron signs with EITHER the Heat or Cavs......he thinks he and Melo are both going somewhere else

:laugh3:

I will give him props if he is right, though

When James was leaving Cleveland the first time and most thought it was the Knicks or Bulls....I said Miami was his sleeper destination.

Good stuff.

What position does salary cap play? And does it run zone defense?

Cap space is all good and well, but dumping players is risky if your player you dumped for doesn't arrive.

Doesn't matter what position cap space plays. Unless Lebron or 'Melo go to the Cavs, they aren't making the playoffs next season any way. So, you save the cap space for next FA period.

I expect the Lakers to do something very similar if they don't get 'Melo. They might sign a couple of solid role players, but will likely save as much cap space as possible for 2015 and/or 2016.

It's obvious that the cap space was cleared for the purpose of signing Lebron. Doesn't matter how the front office is trying to spin it. They gave up first round picks (players and future picks) to clear that space. If they don't get Lebron, yes they still have the cap space which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But they did it for Lebron, not for some flexibility down the road.

Of course it was to sign Lebron. But even if they weren't in the Lebron sweepstakes, it's still a move that makes a lot of sense. Even Cleveland's FO should be smart enough to know that.

It just feels like everyone wants Lebron HOMEHOMEHOMEHOMEHOME

but nobody is really looking at what they have to offer. It's a young roster that doesn't know how to win......no other really great stars, the closest they have is Irving. If Lebron were to join that motley group, Chicago HAS to be the favorites to win the East along with Indy depending on what they do this offseason.

Right now I don't see how the current Cavs roster is an upgrade to where he is now. Yeah their younger.......that's about it.

Solid post. Maybe this frenzy over Cleveland is wishful thinking for a great story.

The thing is, there just isn't any great team in the East (If he leaves Miami and Melo stays in NY). He could go anywhere in the East and have a legit shot at ECF.

There are plenty of fair questions about the Pacers and Bulls ability to truly contend next year, too.

If Lebron wasn't from Akron and had never played for Cleveland, would this even be a discussion? Cleveland has a young inexperienced roster that still wouldn't be the favorite to win the EAST, much less the NBA Finals. Miami is getting old but with some tweaking they would still be the favorites in the east if the big 3 return. LeBron is too concerned with redemption and trying to do the right thing. He's potentially going to make a huge mistake.

True enough.....but those rosters won more than 30 games last year with a much more veteran team and better coaching.

I'd put my chips on either of those teams before this Cleveland roster. I mean lets be honest here........how do you not win 30 games in the EAST and then think you're a contender simply by adding Lebron?

I just can't see that. They will improve, but does Lebron really want to carry a bunch of wet behind the ears rookies again? When he hits the bench, who is going to carry them? Isn't this what he wanted to avoid, carrying a roster again?

I don't think giving up first round picks for future cap flexibility in this case make sense though. It's Lebron or bust. Cleveland isn't exactly a popular place for top free agents to sign.
