Velveteen Dream has been released by WWE. A former NXT North American Champion, Dream was, at one point, a pillar of the NXT roster. His final appearance was in December and it was a loss on television to Adam Cole.

I feel like they probably found something that led to some type of truth of that rumor. Because he was a guy that they seemed high on for a while.
For me, he had the charisma and gimmick down but his in ring work usually depended on who his opponent(s) were. He was never one to carry a match or else it’d fall apart.

If they found something, they would have fired him on the spot. What I feel like likely happened was they couldn't find anything definitive. And they probably can't fire anyone for those reasons without some proof. But what they saw was enough to make them feel like he likely did something. They just couldn't prove it. So they kept him off TV most of the time, let the story die down, and just release him later on as part your typical cost cutting moves. It's no coincidence he was off TV from the time the allegations came up, save for a short couple of matches a few months back, until now when NXT is making cuts for money and space.

And that's why I'm thinking that they never punished Riddle when those allegations came out. They must've believed him and thought that there was really nothing to that case.

While Samoa Joe's new role is behind-the-scenes, he could become the new on-screen GM of NXT.
