With the Final Four fast approaching, the other tournaments are doing their best to steal some publicity. This is what happened yesterday:

Just a brief update from the NIT: Miami beats Richmond 63-61, and Stanford beats Vanderbilt 78-75. Now both teams can say to their fans "Hey, look on the bright side. We're going to New York City!"

I saw that finish live! It was great. And now Old Dominion is going to New York City, joining Temple who defeated La. Tech 77-59.

Brief 3/25 basketball recap​

Which one has the best two out of three championship?

That's the CBI, sir. And:
Louisiana-Monroe defeated Vermont 71-65
and Loyola-Illinois defeated Seattle 63-48.
Meaning that those two will face off for a postseason crown.

On a completely unrelated note, UT-Martin beats Eastern Kentucky 70-69 in the CIT quarters yesterday, too.

3/29 update

It's been a while, folks. So while Kentucky thanks the heavens above that they escaped Notre Dame with their rear-ends intact, the CIT quarters went like this:

UT-Martin over Eastern Kentucky 70-69 (But you probably already know that)
Evansville over Louisiana-Lafayette 89-82
Northern Arizona over Kent State 74-73 in OT
N.J.I.T over Canisius 78-73

The waiting is almost over. It's time to crown some champions, and the festivities start tonight with this:


Monday: CBI Finals [Game 1]: Louisiana-Monroe @ Loyola-Illinois (8:00)

Tuesday: NIT Semifinals (From Madison Square Garden):
Miami vs. Temple (7:00)
Stanford vs. Old Dominion (Around 9:30)

CIT Semifinals:
UT-Martin @ Evansville (7:00)

Tournament update: April 1st

Away from the madness and controversy of the Final Four, the other postseason tournaments are reaching an end. Here's what happened over the past 2 days.

Monday: CBI Finals Game 1: Loyola-Illinois over UL-Monroe 65-58

Yesterday: NIT: Miami over Temple 60-57
Stanford over Old Dominion 67-60
CIT: Evansville over UT-Martin 79-66
Northern Arizona over N.J.I.T 68-61

And by the way, Game 2 of the CBI final is tonight. And if Loyola wins that one, it's over. I'll update tomorrow.

4/1 tournament update

With that, Loyola-Illinois takes the CBI championship. And on this, the possibly last post I'll put on this thread, we'll look at the other 2 postseason tourneys... ending tonight!

As an Evansville fan/alum, I can say that winning the CIT was probably worth it. An all-underclass team getting 5 post-season games, regardless of competition, is useful.
