Well - in certain cases (e.g. Cousins) you make an argument that this is a bad approach. However I don't see it that way in the case of Galette. Honestly what exactly has he done recently to deserve any type of big deal? He did well in some of the games late last season but overall didn't accomplish much & did nothing the previous 2 seasons due to injuries.

Saying that - sure - perhaps some team will give him relatively big $$ because some NFL teams are acting in an insane manner at this time. I also hope for the best for Galette & sure he might do very well - just clarifying that it is a crapshoot at this time.
i dont advocate keeping JR , TM for 10.4 mil guaranteed for 3 years is something we should have done for TM , getting mcphee on the cheap is a good move

I think what some people may be overlooking regarding McPhee is that hes big. At 6'3 280 pounds hes a lot bigger then Galette.... hes also bigger then Trent Murphy

For reference Jonathan Allen a starting 3-4 DE for us is 6"3 285-300

Given his size I would not be surprised to see Mcphee play on the line some and not just during obvious passing downs.

Mcphee may not be as good of a pass rusher as Galette but he does make the defense more versatile and less predictable. I believe Trent Murphy would have had the same ability, especially since he has in the past put on weight to play line but it is what it is. I dont agree with it but I understand it.

All other variables not considered Mcphee is a stand alone good signing, and a steal given his price tag. I bet his family is still rooted around Baltimore. Thats the only logical explanation I can see for him taking a near vet minimum to play for the Redskins, the Redskins.
