I heard Martina discuss it on NBC as a conflict of schedule. I view it as more reality-based than that with Martina and her hard hitting serve and volley and Aggie the ultimate base-liner relying more on her anticipation skills. It was not going to work.

Sorry but we are seeing the last kicks of a dying horse figuratively with Venus. It is sad to see a great champion go. But this is all that we are left with Venus. Her unforced errors are painful to watch.

She just made it to the QF at the Aussie Open. French Open isn't a great judgement to determine if a player should stop playing singles. She is still good enough IMO to make it to the 2nd week of GS excluding the French. I look at her as a player who can make it to the round of 16 depending on her draw and possibly QF if she gets a few breaks in her draw.

I don't consider Halep losing in a major to be an upset.

No weapons. She moves well. That's about it. Fine for smaller tournaments that the star players don't care about as much, but she'll need a miraculous draw to ever win a major.
