If the Cleveland Browns land free-agent QB Matt Flynn (Packers), he would replace QB Colt McCoy as the team's starting quarterback. General manager Tom Heckert said it was likely the Browns would pass on trying to sign a big-name free-agent quarterback, but it appears he has changed his opinion on the team's strategy.

Mike Tolbert - RB - Chargers

The Kansas City Star reports the Chiefs will "visit with" free agent Mike Tolbert on Wednesday.
Coupled with their interest in Peyton Hillis, the Chiefs are casting a wide net in their effort to find a bruising back who can also contribute in the passing game to pair alongside Jamaal Charles. Tolbert would cut into Charles' fantasy numbers much less than Hillis.

The Houston Texans want to re-sign free-agent OLB Mario Williams, according to team owner Bob McNair. "We want Mario. We'd like to have him. Unfortunately, other people would like to have him, too. It depends on how much they're willing to pay," McNair said.

The Houston Texans are not interested in free-agent QB Peyton Manning (Colts), according to team owner Bob McNair. He stood behind QB Matt Schaub; dismissing any speculation the Texans were ever in the running to add Manning. "We've got a quarterback that we think is sound. We think his foot is going to be fine. He's got a great arm, and he can take us to a championship. We have other issues that we have to deal with," McNair said.

The New York Jets signed free-agent C Kristofer O'Dowd (Cardinals) Tuesday, March 13. O'Dowd was the first true freshman to start at center for Southern California, and he snapped for QB Mark Sanchez in college. He was an undrafted free agent out of college who was in camp with the Arizona Cardinals last year. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

I agree. All else being equal, though, I'll take the guy with great size and speed. Schillens drew quite favorable reviews from the Raiders when healthy. There was a lot of optimism about him in camp a few years ago. I have seen very little of him, but I think he's well worth kicking the tires.

Definitely

How the crap is Chris Redman still in the NFL? Does this guy have the best life or what? He's been a backup all this time, doesn't have to do anything but hold a clip board and cash giant checked. What a life.

One of my least favorite players in the NFL, Cortland Finnegan, signs with one of my least favorite teams. Fitting.

Interesting that Alex hasn't had much action this early. I don't nearly place as much value on him as most people on this board have, but I would've imagined a couple of teams (Seattle?) would've kicked his tires by now? It's still early though so we'll see.

Colts in contract talks to keep free agent Reggie Wayne | ProFootballTalk
The Indianapolis Star reports that the Colts are rekindling the idea of re-signing free agent wide receiver Reggie Wayne, and were in contract talks as of Tuesday evening.

The receiver market has thinned out quickly. Vincent Jackson, Stevie Johnson, Marques Colston, Pierre Garcon, Josh Morgan, Randy Moss, and Harry Douglas have signed contracts. Some reports suggest Eddie Royal and Robert Meachem have also picked new homes.

Dwayne Bowe, DeSean Jackson, and Wes Welker were franchise tagged.

Wayne doesn’t seem to be generating a whole lot of interest, so perhaps the Colts are hoping to re-sign him on the cheap.

Adam Caplan:

The #Dolphins want to re-sign RB Steve Slaton. If he re-signs, that's one of the best backfields in the AFC. Loaded if all 3 are healthy.
