Would you rather have Justin Simmons at $14M or a tag and trade and get a 2nd ?

Justin Simmons for sure. The likelihood of a 2nd round pick even coming close to what Simmons can bring is slim to none. Plus just the locker room culture of not paying guys that have earned that 2nd contract is not a good look for the organization.

To me Simmons could be the best player on this defense for 2020. He is a perfect fit in this system, perfect fit for Denver in the community, and should be a Denver Bronco for at least the next 4-years.

I would love that. I love defense, and that dude is a beast. Please make it true

From the sound of things the Broncos are going to make a fair offer for a guy like Schobert but won't get into a bidding war over him as there are other LB's they like in FA. Nick Kwiatkoski is a name to familiarize yourself with. Broncos like him a lot.

I have a feeling denver will not pay for a first wave FA and leave a lot of money on the table.

I would like Cooper and Littleton but I doubt Elway will do that. Imagine what the draft could be if Cb , wr , ILBer and S are firmed up.

As of now we have spent nothing on offense actually

I keep hearing that we are going to draft offense, and buy a defense.

I’ve heard that too

as it sits today our D is playoff ready.
What are we trying to do build the 85 Bears?

hoping a rookie WR pays dividends the first year is flawed and history says don’t expect Randy Moss. You will probly get Fant type numbers from a rookie WR. Now RB can produce right away.

I hope they make a play for a Diggs or Cooper.

If they draft offense the best I could hope for is 9-7 this year . A learning on the job year for sure.

I think a lot depends on the existing guys we have. If Hamilton can put together a full season like he did the last few games then that helps a lot. Patrick 2 years ago finished strong. They are definitely candidates to be productive and draw attention away from Sutton. Add in a guy with speed that can take the top off the defense, and even if he is not as productive, just having that threat is something the Defense has to worry about.

I do hope we sign a vet WR, but it is not do or die.

My buddy who is a Skins fan said that he heard that Cleveland and Denver were the front runners to trade for Trent Williams. I told him that I figured Cleveland would out bid us. They offered a first at the deadline last year and pick before us in the 2nd, so I think it would take our 2nd plus (probably one of our 3rds is my guess). I don't know if I would give that up for him. There are some health concerns. The Redskins medical department was one of the main reasons for his hold out last year.

But if he is healthy, a pro bowl level LT would be a great grab to help protect Lock.

The Broncos also waived cornerback Horace Richardson. Richardson spent last season on injured reserve due to a back injury and has never played in a regular season game since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

I’m with you on us needing a new LT. I think I would rather take a shot at Peters to be honest and save our draft capital. Peters would come cheaper overall and is a rock steady player. But if we got Williams, I would be happy, as long as it isn’t our first rounder

I agree. I would like to sign a FA. I wouldn't mind Peters at all. He is still a solid tackle and his experience would hopefully help guys like Bolles and Wilkinson and any rookie that I imagine we would draft. Guys like Constanza and Whitworth would probably cost a little more than someone like Peters. He is old, though. Not sure he would make it around to see the end if he signed more than a one year contract.

3rd round pick is about all I'm willing to give up for a guy like Trent. I love his game but he didn't play last year, has obviously had some major health concerns, and is wanting a major deal. I would rather spend that money on someone with a little less question marks attached to their resume.

Some owners hoping the CBA vote fails a they want an 18 game schedule, and feel they gave up too much money to the players. The labor situation is going to get interesting. I am sure an 18 game schedule will be purposed in the next round of negotiations, whether it is in a few months, or in 10 years.
