Well lets face it Cup, the contracts are rarely given for past success. If they were Kovy wouldnt be making anywhere near what he makes. So its nice when a legend is reward for holding his team during a long playoff run

Here are my arguments to support it.

1) I could not stand seeing Marty finishing his career with the Leafs or any other team.
2) He did take a discount over his career to play in NJ. I know its a weak argument, but he is a hall of famer and face of the franchise the past 2 decades, not some 3rd or 4th liner.
3) Despite the softies, overall, he was great in the playoffs. Also, his puck playing ability did make a difference.
4) If not Marty, who else do we want as our goalie? The free agent market hasn't been great for any position besides Parise. Maybe trade for a goalie? Hedberg maybe, but he isn't young. We don't know if Kinkaid or Wedgewood are ready yet.
5) This does show Parise that this organization will take care of you. At least I hope.

Moose locked in as backup as well. Marty also quoted by TG saying he has spoken to Zach throghout and feels Devils have stepped to forefront, "pretty positive" Zach will be back, but we'll see.

I hope so. This is brutal waiting on a decision. I want this over with already. I got Ranger fans telling me its between Minn and Pitt.
I only trust sources like TG Fire and Ice or TSN.ca, but hearing these rumors makes me wonder.
