Saw the game today. Coughlin is a lousy fielder. We are in for a long season. Sassi hit a smoking line
drive homerun to right. Impressive!

Another huge offensive outburst by the Fightin's!! Cozens looks like the Jose Canseco of this millenium!

I don't care how Hoskins fits in. I'm dying to see Franco, Cozens, Joseph-Hoskins your 3-4-5 hitters, then Rupp, etc.

Let it happen! Hoskins is patient at the plate, he drew two walks today. Power and OBP ring up runs.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to catch a glimpse of the Phillies spring training games.

So far the positive thing I see is that they are putting the ball in play according the box score.

Do you think that if Dylan and Rhys each hit around 5 homers apiece this spring, they could skip the trip down to AAA in April?
Not likely. But I think it's time to implement the DH in the national league.

Have you forgotten about Tommy Joseph's recent metamorphosis?
Seriously, I would love it if Joseph became a .360 OBP guy, but I'm not totally bought yet. The guy is turning 26 this season and not a whole ton of hitters are able to completely switch their hitting style by that age. Granted, I've never heard of a guy talking about focusing on OBP through walks before, so we'll see. Hoskins is no spring chicken, but has already learned the importance of walks, with a 12.1 BB% last year and a .377 OBP. Even if Joseph ups his walks by 3% (a great improvement), he's still 3% below Hoskins' potential. Plus, Hoskins is younger.

If Joseph doesn't have 5 walks after the Reds series, don't be surprised if you see me posting his name, followed by my patented "NEXT":D

Or at least have it the same way in both leagues. I agree, though I'd prefer out of personal preference to do away with the DH

Stassi get game winning hit. Hoskins hits a Homer and a double. Gotta love em!

I was just coming in to make my first Phillies post on this board!

I was out in Clearwater for the Yanks game Saturday. Which...by the way....if you ever are in FL in March and can catch a spring game there do it. Always an amazing experience surrounded by the home crowd in great weather!

Hoskins is what stuck with me. Inserted him into the lineup mid game and he came in and just hit a SHOT! Right off the bat you knew it was going. I was reading he will go back to Reading or LV this year but could see some time late season. I can't wait to see more of this kids development.

Also enjoyed Franco's shot and in the parker right before Hoskins' shot. He did trot into second and stop for a second. My (HS and college ump for 30 years) did start screaming "keep running, dummy". He eventually did and trotted around. Ball under fence but by the time the ump got there and took a look and denied the ground rule he was around. Love what you can see in ST.

Best of all I enjoyed the ending.....some Yankees shithead across the aisle yelling about how the Phillies are a bush league minor team and always will be. Hoskins double....pinch runner.....Stasi up the middle. Iced!!

Another reason to take in a game there if you can. I got a Phillies hat....old meatball logo in maroon....grey background in front....powder blue wrapped around. Regularly $28, I got it for $12. Gotta love it!
