Just heard on the news that seven teams have made an offer to Doan (The Sabres being one of them).

They said Doan wants to give Phoenix time to make the offer that would keep him there.

I wonder what other teams are interested, but Darcy R. did say the Sabres were interested.

If I had to put money on it, I would say he stays in Phoenix. If the price tag for his services is anywhere near the 7.5 number that was floated out there, I want no part of it.

I think that was just his agent trying to drive up the price.

The Oilers had Fail for Nail.

GMs have Bone for Doan.

A canucks blogger was doing a "boner for doaner" daily scale measuring his level of excitement on the doan news of the day

The day news broke that the canucks officially made doan an offer, blogger guy rated it a 10 inch day

The day news broke an eastern conference team was offering 7.5 mill with term he ranked it a "limp day"

I am not hearing anything about Howson inquiring.

So that proves Howson is an idiot. At least ask, you jackass.

Or maybe he's actually kinda smart. 7.5? Daaaaamn

Yep. I wonder how big of a share of the team they are offering him?

This is how Phoenix could really skirt the cap.

$7.5 million base salary + 1.8% ownership stake = -$1,450,000 cap hit

Agent Yogi 'Ice' Berra tells me that 90% of player transactions are half-mental...

7.5 mil is just beyond ridiculous.

Not if Doan has a time machine, can make himself 10 years younger, and the salary can be paid in 2002 deflation-adjusted dollars. ;)

It's only really not ridiculous if it's only two years or less, you are a serious competitor, and he is the piece that wins you a Cup. With the parity in the NHL right now, I'm not sure that scenario exists.
