Cav got the job. Its doesn't matter b/c Gruden is going to call the plays anyways. Maybe its just me but im not sold on the play calling from Mcvay last year. I think its a good thing that Mcvay left.
Xactlysee we are torn here . wes phillips could leave to be OC of the rams , the only way you stop that is make him OC . however you have callahan perhaps wanting a pay raise to OC and cavanaugh might offer experience and keep callahan at his o/line position with out making him feel he is dead ended
then cavanaugh or callahan could leave to the rams to get the pay raise
lots of issues here for sure
Really happy to see this, sounds like Bill is happy doing work with the Oline and isn't interested at this time in stepping into OC duties so no snub worries...Guys just so you know the reason Bill Callahan is in Washington is because Jerry blocked him from interviewing for the Atlanta Job when he was in Dallas before the last year of his contract so he could keep continuity in the coaching staff.
I think he might take offense If so I guarantee he would be welcome back in Dallas and lots of other places
Just saying
Good for the Redskin Faithful but I was hoping he might leaveReally happy to see this, sounds like Bill is happy doing work with the Oline and isn't interested at this time in stepping into OC duties so no snub worries...

I think it's pretty cool that Callahan wants to stay where he is. He had a rough decade in the 2000s between the Raiders gig and the gig at Nebraska both not working out well. At this point, I think he's happy with doing what he does best and that's working with the O-line.
I think the potential candidates can all bring something good to the table, but first and foremost the new OC has to bring an idea of how to call plays in the red zone. Living here in northern VA, I get to see the Redskins every weekend. Without a doubt, they are the most exciting offense between the 20 yard lines. But once they get into the red zone, they just can't close the deal.
