Favorite childhood memory....

Not many. I grew up poor. Poorest of the poor. Did go roller skating a lot and for my 9th birthday I got a pair of roller skates. I loved them. Probably the best present I ever got.

Looked identical to these.

I could not afford roller skates.
We ate popcorn cereal most days.
Never saw a steak until I was a teen.

My father was a fisherman in Gloucester when I was 5 or 6.
Most days we ate bait. Some days my dad would bring home a couple of 5 gallon buckets of lobsters. I'm guessing he stole them from the traps. I got so tired of lobster.....

Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at three o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of hot gravel, go to work at the mill every day for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would beat us around the head and neck with a broken bottle, if we were LUCKY.

Such irony in that being tired of lobster should mean you are living a luxurious life.

The "poverty" I described in my life doesn't compare and was more a situation of life hitting potholes. My dad had a hard time keeping jobs, but he had them. My grand parents would have interceded before we needed to eat bait and there was the short period of government assistance that kept some food in the fridge too. My parents were religious and the religious friends, though not the most fun, don't let their friends be in despair.

In reality, you grew up poor, I grew up with some learning experiences.

My parents were druggies. That was all they cared about. My Stepdad was constantly in and out of jail. Not very often did we have Christmas or birthdays or pretty much anything. Most of the time no electricity or water in the house. Used old kerosene lanterns and had a hose hooked up to the neighbors house to steal water at night. Would heat it up on a wood stove. Use the water to clean myself. Wash my clothes and flush the toilet. Lived that way all through high school. Never had a phone or a reliable car.

You and Shoe = Hidden America, different stories but similar place, though I get the sense Shoe was loved. I can't say you were completely unloved, but in the world of drug addiction there is no love greater than that of the drugs and little room for any other love.

Southie, not Shoe. My only contribution to the tales of destitution was to quote the Python Four Yorkshiremen sketch.

My parents were broke growing up, but not steal the neighbors water broke. My mom was pretty amazing at making it all work in hindsight.

So you're saying you were able to heat up your gravel.

That musta been nice.

Oops. I originally credited southie, then scanned up and saw your post first and didn't pay attention that it wasn't the correct one.

Without googling, can you name the 11 quarterbacks Belichick has drafted with the Patriots?

Does that include QBs drafted to play other positions?

I can probably remember the picks but not all the names. There was the first guy he drafted with a late round pick that ended up going to another team. Is that close enough?
