ODU over Maryland this weekend

This game has me really worried. ODU has a really good QB and they can put up a lot of points. The Terps can also put up a lot of points with one of the best WR duos in college football. I keep thinking if East Carolina can win by 14 points the Terps should be alright. I know that ODU is still an FCS program, soon to be FBS, but this game will be big in seeing if the Terps are starting to turn around the program.

If it comes down to pass rush, I wouldn't give the Terps much of a chance. I don't have much confidence in the Terps O-line. Hopefully, they improve as the season goes on.

ESPN already lists OD as a FBS independent

They are listed as an FBS, but they are still in the FCS to FBS transition. They wouldn't be eligible for a bowl because too many wins would come from FCS opponents. I assume they wouldn't be able to play in the FCS playoffs because I guess they are technically a FBS team. I really don't know how it works with teams in transition like ODU.

I agree 46, Heinicke is no joke. I'm bummed I won't be able to catch the game, being the closest thing to a home-town team for me I enjoy following and watching their games when possible. Go Monarchs!

I don't know OP. I don't think ODU will even keep it close. UMD seems to have turned things around this year. Heck i'm worried they may blow us out in Ravens stadium in 3 weeks.

I keep up with this stuff and I never seen anything about them being FBS independent this year.

I have Georgia St in the transitioning category and when a team his that, I add them to my FBS list. And every other computer poll is the same way, we all have Georgia St in the FBS category, but not ODU.

Georgia St and UTSA are in the 2nd year of the transition, the other teams are in the 1st year.
